Event Description:
Consultants and Leadership Team members The Liberated Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum Institute are being brought to court (along with UTLA) because their curriculum includes discussion and analysis of the Israel/Palestinian conflict. Join us as we discuss this silencing of educators and how we can support unbiased public school curriculum.
The Liberated Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum Institute (LESMCC) believes that by centering the stories and histories of Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC), we are working to eradicate all forms of discrimination, including anti-Semitism. The inclusion of Arab American and Palestinian American communities teaches a critical understanding of the histories, lived experiences, and social struggles of these marginalized communities.
Speakers: Guadalupe Cardona has been an Ethnic Studies, Social Studies and Theatre educator for 23 years.
Dr. Theresa Montaño has more than 40 years in public education, she taught for 15 years K12 schools before moving into higher education.
