This song has been sampled in over 250 songs. Some songs that sample it is clear and definable, especially if the drum line is the sample. The first to do so was the Beastie Boys on their debut album... Licensed to Ill, in 1985. The song Ryhymin' & Stealin' has a clear and present sample of this songs drum throughout. Give it a listen if you haven't already. Maybe that could be a separate special themed reactions you could do. For example, call it Sample Saturday or Sample Sunday. Research the greatest sample used and then listen to the song that was sampled and then the song that was the most successful that used the sample to see how it was used, how effective it was, how noticeable, etc. For example, in the Destiny's Child song "Bootylicious", they sampled "Edge of Seventeen" by Stevie Nicks. Have you heard either of these songs? Both? Neither? An interesting concept that would do well I think. Good Luck!

Music like this was not normal at this time. Deep Purple is one of 3 bands who started the «Heavy metal» movement. Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath are the other two. The crowd was probably shocked

...It, also, seems that: you missed the "'story of the song." This is, really, about a drug deal gone COMPLETELY bad and mu*d*rs associated with that. [Apparently based-on an actual story, from around this time, about 3 college students from Long Island (which is Blue Öyster Cult's home base & origin point)! You, also, need to understand that: middle-class college students were, commonly, NOT getting involved in major drug deals at this point (and, really, shouldn't, ever!) and that: SUCH was, all; extremely shocking and unheard of at that time!)] ...SO, this is a really dark, creepy, terrifying [ 🤷] (even) tale and song, actually! (in contrast with the sounds, overall "feel" and tempo of the song!) ...It is, also, the most directly bluesy that B.Ö.C. ever sounded (I.M.O.) 🤷.

Your next B.Ö.C. hit-ups should (absolutely) be: "E.T.I." (Extraterrestrial Intelligence) [bad initialization on THEIR part 🤦🙄] and "Astronomy" ...Of course, their "everyone knows it" track is (and has LONG-been, now): "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" [🤔...I thought y'inz had hit that a while back...🤔🤔 I'm forgetting now 🤷(sorry).] and, then, "Godzilla" This band has an, absolute, retinue of great, great, unique songs! Drummer: Albert Bouchard is one of the most (ridiculously!) under-recognized, genius: players, writers, arrangers (et al.) in the rock 'n' roll pantheon. Absolutely ZERO question! This band was, often, described, stylistically, using the phrase: "Thinking man's Heavy Metal." They featured plenty of ripping, heavy dual and triple guitar elements, but, also, some very "progressive rock"-leaning ideas and development. ...and their lyrics were written/assisted by, not just the members of the band (although, of course, they DID write, themsleves! Absolutely!), but by: writers, poets and adjunct friends [such as: the, now-legendary, Patti Smith [who, also, hails from Long Island and was, for a long period, (Guitarist, Keyboardist, etc.) Allen Lanier's girlfriend. Helen Wheels [a future bodybuilder who also had her own (quite excellent) band. R.I.P. Helen!😭😭] and famed fantasy author: Michael Moorcock [in fact, as far as I know: B.O.C. were the first band, ever (and maybe the ONLY one! ...certainly: of THAT era!!) ...to: write songs with a published and well-recognized author!)] ...as well as their Producers and management team members (such as: Sandy Pearlman and Richard Meltzer --- famed Rock Critic of the time).] ...they, also, had some of the greatest song-titles ever written! [e.g.: "I'm On The Lamb, But I Ain't No Sheep" (an extended pun on the saying "I'm on the lam...," meaning: I'm on the run... --- 'lam,' itself being etymologically from an Norse term, later, likely, converted to Old English. It derives from the same root as "lame" and initially meant: a beating, hard enough to make one lame or partially disabled. It, likely, developed into use as: "running from/escaping" such a beating (or said possibility!) and, eventually, in the U.S., came to mean: "being on the run" (generally, from the law or other authority) ...Likely first used and spread by use in the social circles of criminals.) and "She's As Beautiful As A Foot" (when podophilia -- that is correctly spelled. -- or 'foot fetishism,' was NOT, really, on anyone's radar or acknowledged in even most vague corners of society! [whereas, today: No-one knows (or, seemingly, CARES) what the term "fetish" actually means and they commonly toss around/attach the term (falsely and stupidly!!🤬) onto ANY aspect of ANYTHING that they, simply, "like" or have an attraction to; AT ALL! [No.: That (absolutely!) ISN'T what it means. Stop being stupid, please! 🤦🤦🙄]🙄🙄🙄🤦🤬🤬🤬🤬) ...As mentioned, earlier: B.Ö.C. have loads of great songs and albums!: When you're done with (or if you don't feel like hitting🤷🤨) the ones, already listed, above, check out: "Cities On Flame (With Rock 'n' Roll)" 🔥🔥 "7 Screaming Diz-Busters"; "Mistress Of The Salmon Salt (Quicklime Girl)"; "Black Blade"; "The Lips In The Hills"; "Harvester Of Eyes"; "Career Of Evil"' "Transmaniacon M.C." [that would be pronounced: "trans-muh-nyah-con" It is a made-up word.]; "Sinful Love"; "Hot Rails To Hell"; "This Ain't The Summer Of Love" etc. ....

The reason most choose live versions, although the Dead put out quality recorded songs, is because their live versions are fire most of the time. And they are played slightly different most of the time. Over 2300 shows between 1965 - 1995. And not one show exactly the same as another. The remaining members still play to sold out and nearly sold out crowds in the US and Mexico.

Carlos trippin on acid , trying to hold the snake (guitar neck) from wiggling out of his hands
@Friend_Of_The_Muse15 сағат бұрын
Carlos said his guitar neck became a snake that was trying to wiggle out of his hands because he was peaking on LSD. If you watch closely at his solo after the drum solo you can see him trying to keep it from jumping out of his hands and escape.
