Rush are so talented it'll almost make you angry lol. A lot of attention to Neal Peart gets paid, because he's truthfully one of the greatest songwriters and drummers to ever live. There are some awesome videos of him busting out 10+ minute long drum solos on his huge kit that's just arranged like a big fortress wall around him. We sadly lost him a few years ago but thankfully his talent gets to be preserved for future generations with reactions like this.
@seanconnors1613Күн бұрын
5:07 the guitar sounds so much different there because Alex switches to the 12th string. That's a guitar that has 6 additional strings right next to each string. Geddy has a four-string bass on top and a 12-string guitar underneath. Plus Geddy Lee plays keyboards, and Alex plays Bass synthesizers with his feet.

Great reaction!!! You obviously appreciate artistical musicianship. Rush is absolutely the best 3-piece band ever (quite frankly top five best band ever, no matter the members). Pure musicianship and fluid artistry in each of them and their instruments along with the pure chemistry between them. Welcome aboard the Rush Train!!! Now time to venture down the RUSH rabbit hole. I would suggest the songs below to add to your Rush journey and reactions. All of these are absolutely fire!!! Especially all of the LIVE instrumentals with Geddy’s Bass, Alex’s Guitar, and Neil’s percussive artistry. - La Villa Strangiato - Live in Cleveland from 2011 Time Machine Tour (Instrumental - custom "carnival" intro) - original was 1978. Pure musicianship!!! UNMATCHED - best instrumental EVER. - Working Man... Live in Cleveland from 2011 Time Machine Tour (original studio version was in 1974)...The pure sight and performance of three men in their upper 50's take control of the stage and perform and play like they were in their 20's. - YYZ…live from Rio in 2002 (instrumental)…original was 1981 - Best Intro Ever - Live version (R30 tour 2004) - various riffs from their 1970's songs leading into Spirit of Radio - original was 1980 - Closer to the Heart (Live 1998 Different Stages) - original was 1977 - Limelight...studio version - original was 1981. - The Garden (Clockwork Angels tour live) - original was 2012 - Subdivisions...studio version or live version - original was 1982 - Freewill... Live from Snakes and Arrows Tour 2007 - original was 1980 - Fly by Night - original was 1975 - Leave that Thing Alone - Live in Cleveland from 2011 Time Machine Tour (Instrumental) - original was 1993 - Malignant Narcissism (instrumental) and Drum Solo - Live 2008 Snakes and Arrows Tour - original was 2007 - Also...Neil Peart's Drum Solo Live from Frankfurt 2004. He was The Professor...a pure musician and percussionist...not just a "drummer". Be ready to be amazed by not just his hand coordination...but most of all his foot coordination...basically his feet being completely individual in timing from his hands during segments of this performance. He was the master of this technique.

Hell, yeah! You guys can go to Xanadu. But its proper name is Shangdu and it’s located in the hills of Inner Mongolia, China. Shangdu was built as the summer quarters for Kublai Khan when temperatures in the capital soared during the summer. Kublai was the grandson of the great Genghis Khan. Don’t expect to see much of the city since Shangdu is mostly in ruins consisting of old city walls and foundations. But it could be worth the trip. It’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A restoration of Shangdu has been undertaken since 2002.

Y'all are on the right path with respect to the song title & meaning. This song is inspired by the unfinished poem, Kuble Khan, by Samuel Coleridge that he wrote after an opium inspired dream, but was interrupted and never finished. In the poem, Kubla Khan is a mythical place... a paradise. I'm not sure why Neil Peart chose to write a song about this, but my interpretation is that he found something poetic about a poet trying to describe paradise... but ultimately being unable to get there (i.e. finish the poem). Anyway, as you can guess, these guys run deep. And, oh yeah, Neil Peart is widely considered one of the greatest (if not THE greates) rock drummers of all time. This is a deep rabbit hole (as is Tool btw).
