Question, on reps the program says 10 seconds per rep. It also says hold in three positions. So is it three reps ten seconds each?

Yes, 3 reps, ten seconds each.

@@propulldiscgolf5373 One is focus. Paying attention with release angles and keeping the nose even. I regularly throw nose up. I started the elbow pull through today. I can see where this is going to change my backhand. I have increased my distance too.

Can you explain how to do this and not hit you wrist with the carabiner?
@smcockrell2 жыл бұрын
Yes this! My wrist has a knot in it just from the first set. It does NOT hit my chest. It hits squarely in the middle of my wrist, which is highly dangerous and probably should come with some kind of disclaimer to be honest.

Hey Philo hope all's well. I was watching round two of the Myrtle Beach MPO when you were commentating. You mentioned throwing discs "Back in the day." like cyclones, poloris' and releasing them w/a @45*angle. I'm also from the era of BB aviars, rocs, comets but very few drivers and have a bad habit releasing high speed discs with the same angle. How did you adjust for this during your career as I've noticed players who started in the early-mid 90's have had problems or still have problems with their release points.

You know...today after 18 holes up here in Wisconsin I just had an “off” day.......so I found a filed at a park to work on my swing. So I remembered the technique of Just throwing in the line and SLOWING down and keeping smooth SOOOOO helped me. Thanks phill for helping me out and allowing me to have an awesome end to my day!

Are there any videos on the equipment? I have a Velcro string thing I have no idea what it's for. Instructions don't help.
@propulldiscgolf53734 жыл бұрын
Hey, sorry for the delayed response. That is the Safety Strap. The Velcro goes around your wrist and the carabiner attached to the disc goes through the hole of the strap.

Why is the disc so far away from your body
@patrickcarey68384 жыл бұрын
The only thing I find strange is that he doesn't stagger his feet whatsoever. I find that angling my stance to where it's pointing 15-20 degrees left of my target (RHBH) with my feet perpendicular to my intended line really helps me feel/use my bracing and get my weight behind the shot. Obviously he knows what he's doing though and he's my favorite pro! Great video.
@SpecOpsCM4 жыл бұрын
I agree, and I usually try to do the same. I do it to help me power stand still shots, but I imagine someone who throws as smoothly as Philo uses the body more for accuracy and lining up on the target, and the whip in the forearm to let the disc spin faster and glide to the target.

Just tried this, and the carabiner destroyed my wrist. Seems like a really bad design flaw
@propulldiscgolf53733 жыл бұрын
@@daberrlhardt7113 It's important to know that everyone's relative angle positions between their joints are different. The angle positions between shoulder, elbow, and wrist are different for every player but you should be able to do the pulls without that happening. Without seeing exactly what's going on I think if the carabiner is hitting your wrist it could be a couple things. Sometimes it means you may be rounding just a bit and if that's the case answer #1 below is critical. 1. On your reachback (disc golf should be call it "reachaway") make sure you push the disc away from your body so it's just a bit farther or equal distance in front of you than your front foot's toes. Then pull directly toward your toes. 2. If the above doesn't help, try holding the disc in different positions. For example, because the disc can rotate you can grab it at 12:00 or 9:00 or 6:00. Try different positions until it doesn't hit your wrist. 3. As you go through the motion you can not go all the way to the very end. One thing about resistance band training is that it almost completely mimics the motion but it doesn't have to on every workout. Because resistance bands use exaggerated movements to train the activated muscles it's important when doing the Speed workout to think of an actual throw, but knowing you may not be able to extend all the way to the release point. Even if you don't go as far to the end of your pull you'll still be training speed and line. The other workouts can be more focused on technique and mechanics. Dave Feldberg shows a rep that he likes to do where he holds the disc almost to the release point and does extensions just with his wrist. That would make up for not going all the way through in the speed workout.

Stand with the band behind you. You're practicing rounding. This is a great tool, but you're not using it correctly IMO
@SonnyJ3t3 жыл бұрын
Take this video in the context it’s supposed to be in. THIS particular video is not about the mechanics, it’s about getting the feeling of a quick rotation. This is stated directly in the video.
@sfincione20005 жыл бұрын
I'd like to hear what the likes of Simon Lizotte or Eagle McMahon think of this particular exercise. It looks a little wrong mechanically. I don't agree with rotating your left shoulder as part of the pull through. I think it will lead to over rotation and shanking. It's harder to stay on the line this way.
@zwolfd5 жыл бұрын
You definitely want to point the left shoulder at the target for max distance. I don't agree with this demonstration though.
@propulldiscgolf53734 жыл бұрын
Yes, I've been slack responding to this Chanel..too many places to cover. If you will look through the videos they all have particular purposes. The Philo, Feldberg, Keven Jones & Schroeder videos are for mechanics. The others are focused on increasing quickness to the target while trying to maintain basic mechanics.

Just curious, after a year would you say practicing with the pro pull was worth it Tim?
@the-first-joe3 жыл бұрын
I am not sure if you would get more out of this than using a resistance band, used for any workout that attaches to a door, for the strength portion of the throw and going out to a field (better yet a course) and honing the strength training with real discs. A year later, did it help your game? Or, as I suspect, did it really not matter? I would think that any core movement workouts (kettlebell, heavy club, even zumba, etc.) would build the right muscles. No matter what you are going to have to transfer that to the course. In the end, playing more is going to help you more than anything else. This seems like the thigh master of disc golf.

I am still using them when i warm up before a round.
