Thanks for the chatter. So much of the discussion below is true. Bottom line for me is that no two players in the world throw the exact same way because of body and timing differences. We have to take bits and pieces from all sources using trial and error. The real beauty of the ProPull is that the bands go where YOUR FORM goes. I specifically told Philo that I wanted him to use it the way HE sees it. Parts of his form speak to my game and some parts don't. I've got Kevin Jones doing a couple things that will be up pretty soon and his is completely different. Also will have Dave Feldberg videos in the next few weeks and I'm sure they will be completely different from Philo and Kevin. Looking forward to seeing more instruction in the coming weeks!

I love my pro-pull. I've been using it everyday in the off season and I am already seeing gains when I go to the field (I'm even throwing with worse footing and much colder weather) so I am very excited for the season to begin.

The only thing I find strange is that he doesn't stagger his feet whatsoever. I find that angling my stance to where it's pointing 15-20 degrees left of my target (RHBH) with my feet perpendicular to my intended line really helps me feel/use my bracing and get my weight behind the shot. Obviously he knows what he's doing though and he's my favorite pro! Great video.

I agree, and I usually try to do the same. I do it to help me power stand still shots, but I imagine someone who throws as smoothly as Philo uses the body more for accuracy and lining up on the target, and the whip in the forearm to let the disc spin faster and glide to the target.

You know...today after 18 holes up here in Wisconsin I just had an “off” day.......so I found a filed at a park to work on my swing. So I remembered the technique of Just throwing in the line and SLOWING down and keeping smooth SOOOOO helped me. Thanks phill for helping me out and allowing me to have an awesome end to my day!

I think theres a few things I can say. For people who want to throw straight and consistent, I think philos method is the best. But for those who want to throw far and have a higher ceiling, I think getting the disc into the power pocket like danny lindahl says is very important. We can see philo maxes out around 400-450 feet. Thats really far. Philo has great technique and does his form really well. But you look at players who throw 450-500+, they put the disc and the straight path like philo talks about closer to the body. I believe this add’s distance without sacrificing accuracy. First and foremost I think that if anyone wants to throw a disc golf disc straight they have to get their body, and the path of the disc in their form on a straight line going straight towards the target, exactly how philo teaches. Does not matter if its in the power pocket or not. I think this would be a good way to teach beginners and people who don’t care about distance for sure. It depends on what is comfortable for the person. Philo is showing good technique 100%. Philo is correct about what he said concerning pretty much everything besides how far the disc needs to be away from the body.

Hey Philo hope all's well. I was watching round two of the Myrtle Beach MPO when you were commentating. You mentioned throwing discs "Back in the day." like cyclones, poloris' and releasing them w/a @45*angle. I'm also from the era of BB aviars, rocs, comets but very few drivers and have a bad habit releasing high speed discs with the same angle. How did you adjust for this during your career as I've noticed players who started in the early-mid 90's have had problems or still have problems with their release points.

Why is the disc so far away from your body

I wonder what danny lindahl has to say about this. Danny teaches different mechanics.

Lol I'll take Philo advice over Danny. Proof is in the pudding, or current rating

@@straystray Philo is amazing at golf. But also proof to my point is that danny throws further than philo. Philo has incredible control but loses out in distance.

It’s not about right or wrong, it’s about different perspectives.

Everybody, everybody learns from someone else, even the ones they do the teaching. It’s what you do with the info that matters, apply it to yourself, pass it on to help others, do whatever to grow the grow the sport. See how far complaining about someone on you tube gets you.
