I did this method on my Honda civic 2006 on a small section and it worked. It has been holding up for 5 years and now I am doing to do the rest since it was originally a small area I painted. FYI I use Matt rustoleum spray paint and for 5 years and counting it held up well.

I keep watching these videos because we bought a used 2011 for my son with this issue. Everyone is sanding and painting. I "think" those door trim sash pieces are stickers, right? Can't you remove with a heat gun and then get new tape from Honda?

You know that vinyl black tape just peels off, right? Use a heat gun, a plastic scraper, and some Goo-Gone to peel it all off. The car paint color is underneath. You can buy replacement OEM pre-cut "sash tape" from Honda (about $20/door) or just buy some 3M blackout tape or vinyl wrap.

OEM parts have 3 times markups don't go for it Taiwan aftermarket parts usually work alright in terms of quality and price

In case it hasn't been mentioned, it's the mode door actuator instead of the blend door actuator. Having said that, the blend and mode door actuator may actually be the same part, just different locations.

thanks for the advice friend i had put one in and it actually fell out while driving put another cheap one on other side just jacked up the car to put another cheap one in and found your video now i am online getting an oem so i can do it right thank you for taking the time to record this

Did this using this video however that screw behind the black plastic piece was a bitch to remove had to use a flexible socket extension

I used this guide to replace this actuator with OEM Honda one for about $70 in my 2010 Civic. Figured it lasted almost 14+ years it's worth the investment for OEM Honda Part. The top screw of the actuator and the bottom screw of the vent pipe was the most difficult, but overall if you take your time it's easy to do. Also with the old part out, I plugged in the new part and match the orientation of the old one before putting back in with fresh lithium grease. Good Video!

Thank you - following your video, I was able to replace the air blend door actuator. Part cost $27 on ebay. The other video I watched did not mention setting the defrost and getting the actuator aligned - appreciate you mentioning that. The worst part was getting to the screw at the top of the actuator unit; rest was not too difficult.

For me the when i have it on cold it blow hot air i replaced the ac condenser fan because that wasn't working but nothing with the actuator moves when i move the temperature.

I thought the blend door actuator only switches from hot to cold. Don’t you need to change the mode door actuator?

Hello, I have an odd noise from my dashboard Civic 2011. I thought it was from the AC Vent Motor and to check I unplugged the servo motor green plug. But notice continued and unfortunately, it didn't the servo motor noise. The noise is heard from the center of the dashboard from inside. It is heard when the air-conditioner is off and on. PLEASE HELP.

Thank you sir! Picked up an 09 civic as a daily and it had a blend door actuator issue. Swapped it out and good as new 👍 On the 09 once the new one is plugged in, I had to turn the vent to blow out the front for it to line back up on the tracks. So anyone swapping a 2009 actuator just keep that in mind
