The toys never looked as cool as they did.In these catalogs we got them home and the toys were total waste. The catalog made it look so cool. But then when you got up you were like it doesn't look like the catalog

Thanks Dan - this was tremendously fun, in addition to the strong strong catalogue nostalgia. And ty for a great year of this new toy hunting channel!!!

I think cataloging all the retro turtles for a book is making Dan lose his mind. 😆

Great video, Dan! I was born in '87 so this stuff was a bit before my time, but the overall nostalgia is undeniable. My vintage MOTU stuff as a kid was all from yardsales, but even I had a couple carrying cases & would love just looking at the artwork on them even back then. I don't think I have the one featured in that catalog though. You mentioning those pinball machines also reminded me that I got a random little pinball machine for Christmas one year (not a MOTU one) so thanks for that. Merry Christmas!

Somehow that Trundaxx bit really reminded me of classic AVGN, such a fun present for Christmas.

I'll never forget the year I forever dubbed the Real Ghostbusters Christmas. That one was epic. Thanks for the excellent trip back in time. I especially loved seeing all the "wood grain" items. My parents had multiples of all those I think. Such a great era. Merry Christmas to you and yours Dan!

Paused at 3:01 second, came back after 2 and a half hours of looking through catalogues. It became clear when Mongomery Ward started taking on water because the catalogue just started becoming increasingly more disorganized, mixing toys and clothes? Kids don't care about clothes. 1985 there were 3 and then 1986 there were 2. Seeing Transformers made me want every one. And The Horde shows up, I have no desire to have the He-Man figures except The Horde. I'm sure someone was fired over mixing Super Powers and Secret Wars in 1984 JC Penney.

The Trundaxx is AWESOME! I didn't know that existed either. As a kid, I did get those box sets in plain brown boxes. They were sold in the bulk outlet stores. It was bizarre. What a time to be alive!

Funny seeing the Atari 2600 and Colecovision in that book considering that 1984 was the year of the BIG video game crash. I got to go to the Consumer Electronics Show in Chicago that year and I saw so many cool video games and peripherals that never went to market...

I had that Tyco RC slot car set and well, much like you with your set, my brother and I didn't play with it much. Also I liked the Trundaxx bit. Maybe it will become to Pixel Dan what Truxton is to Classic Game Room? They both have X in the title! Happy Holidays to you and the fam. :)

I remember best the Sears Wishbook. I'd get a couple sheets of notebook paper and wrote down anything remotely interesting and its page number, so my parents could find it easily. Always included a pool table, air hockey, and all that stuff. Never got any of those. Of course, my parents do have air hockey now. For the grandkids.
