One of the greatest albums of all time, forever in my top ten. Also the drummer went on to form The Breeders with Kim Deal for the album Pod and other tracks throughout The Breeders catalogue.

revolver is a must-do next... it's arguably their best, most concise album and a great gateway drug to the band

The end of Norwegian Wood, he burned down the house because she led him on and forced him to sleep in the bath. Here’s a quote from Paul: “…it meant I burned the f**king place down as an act of revenge.”

Most people I know say the 2009 remasters or the new remixes are best. The new mixes were done because some people don't like the stereo mixes on the 2009 remasters. All the Beatles albums, up to and including Sgt Pepper, were recorded on 4-track machines. Not very good for getting a modern stereo mix. Since mono mixes sound even more antiquated, new mixes are being made using new technology that allows for isolating voices and instruments and creating more modern sounding mixes. It's a mixed bag though. Many of the 2009 mixes are still better. The American Capitol original mix should be avoided since it doesn't have all the tracks.

The Beatles hadn't invented the concept album yet. None of these songs are related to each other. Four different singers even. "Run for Your Life" was based on an Elvis Presley song, "Baby, Let's Play House". "Now listen to me baby. Try to understand. I'd rather see you dead, little girl, than to be with another man. Come back baby, come. Come back baby. I want to play house with you."

This album is great. Chronologically, this is their first "great" album. Every song is great, even the songs most people say are the worst on the album (What Goes On and Run For Your Life). There isn't really a story in this album, or at least there isn't intended to be one, but it's always interesting to see somebody interpret one. Sgt. Pepper was the closest they'd get to really having a concept album, the concept basically being "what if we weren't the Beatles?" but they mainly used that to escape creative limitations and the album itself doesn't do anything with the concept of the Lonely Hearts Club Band itself, though I don't really think they intended it to be all about said band. I'd say for the Beatles, absolutely do Revolver next! Unlike this album, there are three different versions available to listen to. Which one you do is up to you, but it's usually advised to avoid the 2009 remaster of every Beatles album if possible. I personally suggest the mono mix for Revolver (available on Disc 4 of the Super Deluxe edition) as it's what the Beatles originally intended us to hear and the 2022 mix isn't very faithful to the mono mix. With Sgt. Pepper, I suggest the new mixes on the Super Deluxe edition because they're very faithful to the mono mix, since Giles Martin and Sam Okell actually cared about the project back then. The mono mix is really good too, it just cuts off the ending on streaming. Glad you enjoyed the album, looking forward to more Beatles! Also looking forward to some King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard if you don't already listen to them!!

1:53 Brian Wilson is physically sensitive to sound. If I had to summarize his emotional headspace, he finds that joy and sadness are two parts of a larger harmony. Those around Brian Wilson knew he was mentally unwell, but were not equipped to actually do anything about it. Brians first big moment was when he had a panic attack during a tour flight, this panic attack lead to him not touring the rest of that season with the other Beach Boys, and writing the music of Pet Sounds while staying back in Cali.

YOU HAVE TO GET INTO SYSTEM!!!!! Such a fun rabbit hole to get into Also fun fact about this album: the band actually regrets putting it out, as they said it had no direction and there was lots of tensions between the band. They almost broke up during the making of this and this is the same time period when chino stepped aside to work on his first (of 3 other) side project called Team Sleep

This album, Fetch The Bolt Cutters and The Idler Wheel are seen by most fans and critics as her three greatest works. When the Pawn… is a pretty good introduction to her discography. It gives you a feel of Fiona as an artist while also being more easily digestible than those other two projects. It’s also one of the more influential albums of the late 90s. However, Fetch The Bolt Cutters and The Idler Wheel are her absolute masterpieces to me. ‘Fetch’ is like this odd, ambitious but entrancing jazz-blues-punk album. And it’s probably the most acclaimed album of the 2020’s so far. While ‘Idler Wheel’ is to me her peak as a songwriter.

If you like weird sounds, you might prefer her last two albums, which are by far her most experimental. It was really fun to watch you check out one of my favorite artists. I really liked how much you picked up on so quickly. Thanks! 💛

Was hoping for a little more indepth than just saying every track is "very cool bro" and "weird bro" and "bro bro bro bro" but I guess you can't expect too much intellectual depth from gen z.

When the pawn hits the conflicts he thinks like a king What he knows throws the blows when he goes to the fight And he'll win the whole thing 'fore he enters the ring There's nobody to batter when your mind is your might So when you go solo you hold your own hand And remember that depth is the greatest of heights And if you know where you stand then you know where to land And if you fall it won't matter 'cause you'll know that you're right

Another super strong singer/songwriter album is Titanic Rising by Weyes Blood. Her vocals are kind of wail-y in a way that reminds me of Kate Bush or like a gloomier Caroline Polacheck (btw HIGHLY recommend her album Desire, I Want to Turn Into You)
