If you like weird sounds, you might prefer her last two albums, which are by far her most experimental. It was really fun to watch you check out one of my favorite artists. I really liked how much you picked up on so quickly. Thanks! 💛

yay fiona apple!!! If you liked the songs with weirder and more abstract elements then you’re going to adore her album ‘the idler wheel’ it’s genuinely a 10/10 and her best work

I thought we all agreed it was fetch the bolt cutters or no

@@Flop4Life2no idler wheel is much better, or atleast it is imo, not to say ftbc is not a good album, but its not as lyrically strong as the idler wheel, also the production feels more raw and detailed.

@@rayan2620 I do agree that ‘Idler Wheel’ is her peak as a songwriter. However, the weird and almost punk like production on ‘Fetch’ makes it for me possibly her best work. It just feels so much bigger and more idiosyncratic than any of her other albums. The Idler Wheel is also a great album though.

This album, Fetch The Bolt Cutters and The Idler Wheel are seen by most fans and critics as her three greatest works. When the Pawn… is a pretty good introduction to her discography. It gives you a feel of Fiona as an artist while also being more easily digestible than those other two projects. It’s also one of the more influential albums of the late 90s. However, Fetch The Bolt Cutters and The Idler Wheel are her absolute masterpieces to me. ‘Fetch’ is like this odd, ambitious but entrancing jazz-blues-punk album. And it’s probably the most acclaimed album of the 2020’s so far. While ‘Idler Wheel’ is to me her peak as a songwriter.

When the pawn hits the conflicts he thinks like a king What he knows throws the blows when he goes to the fight And he'll win the whole thing 'fore he enters the ring There's nobody to batter when your mind is your might So when you go solo you hold your own hand And remember that depth is the greatest of heights And if you know where you stand then you know where to land And if you fall it won't matter 'cause you'll know that you're right

Another super strong singer/songwriter album is Titanic Rising by Weyes Blood. Her vocals are kind of wail-y in a way that reminds me of Kate Bush or like a gloomier Caroline Polacheck (btw HIGHLY recommend her album Desire, I Want to Turn Into You)

You gotta listen to Fetch the Bolt Cutters by her, a masterpiece imo and it's weirder than When the pawn...
