Kopek Bella Roddy

I've lost a piece of me. Kopek died on February 9th. I made the most difficult decision I could ever imagine and helped Kopek pass peacefully. She had been suffering from an unknown ailment that attacked her lungs. For a few weeks prior she had increasing difficulty breathing. We tried everything possible to diagnose and treat what was going on but we never got answers and she never improved. I spent over $9000 on diagnostics and treatments and never had a clear idea of what was happening to her. Eventually breathing became too difficult for her to do on her own and she was placed in an oxygen chamber.
Her final hour was spent in the back of my Element because it was a place that Kopek loved. To her it always signified fun and adventure. Cat and I spoke to her, loved her, fed her McDonalds, and cried seeing her struggle. She passed in the grass outside the vet's office.

I am beyond sorry for your loss Sage and I’m so glad you have Cat there during this time. Your love for Kopek was weaved into the fabric of every video you made with her. The way she looked at you showed how much she loved you in return. When a dog loves you it’s a bond and a feeling like no other and you understood that the whole time you were together. The video “Kopek the Adventure Dog” is what led me to your adventures and I’ll be watching that in a few minutes. This video is such a beautiful bookend to that one and truly honors her life and your place in it. I always had a notion that I’d get to meet the two of you in person some day since my brother lives in Seattle. Sadly I’ll never get to meet her but it’s a reminder to never put anything off because our time here is short. I’m actually crying as I write this and I feel like I’ve lost a dog of my own. I’m giving you, Cat and Qwerx a big virtual bear hug and if there’s anything at all that I can do, please let me know…

Such a beautiful tribute. Thanks for the life/love you gave her. She gave it back a million times over. Sadly, I have never had one pass naturally but had to make that tough decision many times. Hardest thing I ever have done and will have to do. A piece of you goes with them. Such a kind way to let her go...a familiar and comfortable place, being loved and treated and then a long peaceful, painless nap- dreaming of you and adventures. RIP Kopeck. When my boy Bear passed early from lymphoma i had to find another i felt to keep his sister company. So at 8 , her age i adopted Hayes who was probably 1. That company kept her active and engaged as the sweetest chubby beagle lab mix lived to 15. And Hayes was to be put down that week, they gassed them at that time in N.C. Bear taught me that as one door closed another opened. Crazy Hayes is almost 13 now and my best friend...

Damn... So sorry for your loss. So difficult but it's better than too long suffering. My last girl absolutely loved riding in the Element, right side rear, looked outside most of the time, didn't like the wind in her face. She too had labored breathing at the end. So difficult a decision, she ate ice cream before she went, her last ride was in the E... She was almost 15, brother had lymphoma at 8. RIP Kopek Peace be with you all.

@@wildsage Thank you she was, i hope she did, the sweetest soul i ever met. She was the best. I know you gave Kopek the best life she could have and she would thank you for that. They thank us every day. My boy now is most 13, couldn't walk behind for 5 months but we got him walking on his own again. We believe its a nerve issue or degeneration, vet couldn't help, chiropractor did some though, time and supplements.... Its not pretty sometimes but he's back exploring the yard and forest edge. Everyday it's a blessing to see him go. He made the trip to Florida for Christmas again, that was hue. Trying not to think beyond today...I've been through the lowest lows with Bear, who had cutaneous lymphoma, spent about 14k to keep him alive 5 months, but they were at times 5 great months and two awful weeks... Always keep a dog if you can, honor the ones that came before them with loving the next one,. There wouldn't be a Hayes, my dog now, if Bear hadn't passed, he opened the door...Hayes was on death row, pulled him the week he was to be put down and they did that there, in N.C. . If anyone is looking, A Shelter Friend is a nice group to adopt a dog from, pulled from the county animal control. Lots of hound mixes, they are sweet. Peace !

This is so remarkable...... I've seen most of your videos but hadn't watched any lately. Yesterday, I went through the same thing. My cat, who I have since kittenhood, had developed an intestinal disorder and was miserable on his last day. It is..... it''s the hardest decision one can be faced with. I moped all night, I moped all day today, second-guessing myself, and for some reason, I thought of this channel. As soon as I saw this video, I actually felt some relief because it showed me that I'm not alone in this grief. You helped me more than you know. Thank you. I hope you're at peace now..... Amazingly I’m spending my last evening with my other pup, Qwerx. He belonged solely to my partner Cat but since we’ve been together he’s very much become mine as well. Tomorrow we are helping him pass. The decision doesn’t get any easier with practice I guess because this is also incredibly tragic and disrupts our lives once again. You are certainly not alone in your grief. Our pets make a truly incredible and indelible mark on our hearts.

I've been living solo since I moved to southern Oregon 12 years ago, and my fuzzy Duckley was my constant companion. It's hard now, and I know it will get easier as time goes by, but I'm still at that stage where every place in my home.... I see him. I know that I gave him the best life I could, and I'll always feel a little empty without him, but we carry on. Much love to the two of you.

Sage, I am crying inside. What an incredible intelligent animal! People that think that humans are better than animals because of their own religious bullshit are idiots. We all deserve respect and admiration, because we all are just made up of the same raw materials, they are just assembled differently.
