In 1990 I looked very much like the sister!! Was right around that age and had almost the same hair - her's looks better though, I had a hard time with getting mine to stay up higher like that 😁

Now it’s all yoga pants and NPCs lol. They’re on hamster wheel working computer jobs and living in sardine tin, sweating at the gym to feel alive. These days it’s illegal to be bohemian in Austin. The Richie Rich’s are practically flinging their poop monkey style at the poor and homeless.

Thanks for the memories. I really miss Austin the way it was. I have memories of the beauty and tranquility, how peaceful and safe it was. 1993 was the year we lived from Cedar Park to the pits called Houston that I hated so much. I retired a few years before the pandemic and moved back to Austin. A lot had changed but it was definitely more tranquil and still had some semblance of the town I used to love and daydream about. I feel sorry for the young folks here today whether they are newbies or longtime Austinites because sadly Austin will never be the real Austin again. Mueller was the only airport when I flew in from up north. 35 was 35, not the nightmare about to happen to revamp it to accommodate the newbie traffic. Breckenridge where my infant son was Lifeflighted to is no longer but we are a much more medically available town and that’s a good thing. Although I do miss the Htown medical availability, it’s not where Austinite newbie or not should live.

This is unreal. I grew up in Austin, had friends that lived in those apartments (Cliffs at Barton), and used to love listening to Rage Against the Machine. Get outta my head 😀

My family relocated to Austin Texas in 1982 when I was 5 years old. I had the honor of growing up there in the 80s and 90s and it was absolutely glorious. Now, it is completely unrecognizable as the California hordes have completely destroyed it. Moved away a long time ago and have never looked back.

I remember when the "selfie" first came out with the digital camera that you could plug into your computer and upload onto Myspace. People actually often felt bad about taking pictures alone, by themselves, just so people could see how they looked. We talked about how we felt about it openly and most people agreed that It was "vain" to do so. Before that, we only took pictures to capture a memory, as seen in this video.

We grew up with no idea of what our reality should look like. We didn’t watch tv and emulate what we saw, we just lived. Things have really changed.

Must be a late Gen-Xer born in the late 1970s. Most of us early Gen-Xers were out of high school by 1990.

Nothing has really changed. Computers and game consoles in every kids room in the house. TV's in every room. People mindlessly wasting time on entertainment. If you magically turned those TV's into flat screens and they were holding cellphones it'd look just like today.

I was 13 in Sonoma Ca. I remember that "do-ya-know-do-ya..". Those were fun times... started smoking weed and getting into punk rock and guitar a couple years after this. We were huge partiers. Big Kegers up on the hill with a hundred people was normal. All talking and joking around. People's houses got destroyed

Yous grew up in a really nice house. Yous have no back fences that divide the property's, no pool safety fence! Wow! The way you guys interact was very different to the way we did in Australia. I wouldv loved to have grown up in America & have similar parents & live in a house like yours.
