I’ve been shooting a top of the line PSE for a couple years and recently decided I wanted a decent budget bow to have as a spare just in case. Shop recommended the Alaskan XT, couldn’t be happier with my purchase. PSE is still a bit faster, more solid back wall but the Bear is more than adequate. Amazing value bow

Nice video. Good practice drill. I love the sound of an Elite. I am shooting the Ethos. One small critique and a compliment. Your release is breaking nicely (compliment). Now the critique . You don't need that exergerated follow thru. When your shot breaks the natural follow thru stops about above your shoulder and you can see that in your shot sequence. For shooters that understand shooting a hinge it looks kinda silly because we know its exaggerated.

@joshuadouglasarchery10 күн бұрын
It definitely wouldn’t work if you’re shooting with your non dominant eye, your dominant eye takes over and your pins won’t line up over the target!

After watching this video and @_BrianScott decided to try this. I already shoot with both eyes open anyway. However,I definitely noticed my groups getting tighter and smaller the more I shot. Will definitely be adding this to my practice routine from now on.

Because of the lay of the land at my home I don’t practice at past 60. If I were to miss the arrow would land on my neighbors property. So, I don’t get to do it until I’m on another range. But, at 60 yards I can pretty much know where the pin was at the shot. This gives me better feedback to help me work on my form, timing and execution. Something seldom discussed is developing a built-in shot timing no matter the distance ( within reason). My idea is if you can break a good shot within 2-3 seconds inside of a certain time it will help create consistent form. Not saying break the shot ar 2-3 seconds but break the about the same time like 6-7 seconds or 9-12 ( for longer hold people). Point being I believe if you change or lengthen time to the break at longer yardage your form, vision etc is breaking down very possibly?

Interesting concept and exercise. Guessing I learned using both eyes open shooting traditional bows instinctively style years ago. Also, when hunting allows a peripheral view of what’s going on near your target animal.

Modern 340plus bows are in reality mid 320s. upto speeds if 80lb, if 31 inch, nothing to do with ibo rated system anymore. pse 356 at ibo is 340. slow compared to moster tested at ibo. pse 29inch, 70lb 286. monster 6 70lb 29inch 302

My problem is, my left eye is just very slightly less powerful than my dominant eye, so when I shoot with both eyes open, I get double vision. I have not figured out how to fix that, besides squinting my left eye while aiming.
@joshuadouglasarchery11 күн бұрын
That is fair! I personally believe as long as you’re shooting with your dominant eye you’re on the right path! Fully open or squinting is definitely better than your off eye shut!

I started learning on my non dominant eye because I had no idea that’s how archery works and it might be alittle too late to go back now…I currently shoot with my other eye squinted…what would you suggest
@joshuadouglasarchery11 күн бұрын
It definitely is gonna sting a little since it sounds like most your equipment is probably based around your non-dominant eye, but I would recommend switching. Maybe not right away, just next time you upgrade bows get the dexterity that matches your dominant eye, upgrade equipment for here for it and you’ll have a set up that’s back to 100% in due time! I personally don’t think there’s really a “point of no return,” but at the same time I understand guys aren’t going to want to go and get a whole new set up right away haha. I’d say work towards it and in the long run, I believe you’ll be thankful you did!

you move way too much after you fire an arrow
@joshuadouglasarchery15 күн бұрын
Your arm is supposed to move after you fire your shot, brother! It’s a sign that you have a surprise shot and have good push/pull. The bow hitting the draw stops is the thing stopping your hands from getting further apart so once that goes off, your arms should move with the built up pressure.
@cj_1245115 күн бұрын

I got zero clue why you have a taped off sight, or why you stressed it so much at the start of the video but like, this is maybe the absolute worst camera angle possible. We can’t see the sight or what you are shooting at, and you never show us any kind of results. It could just be bait to get someone like me to make a comment, but you could have made such a better video by having the camera on the other side showing the taped off sight and the target
@joshuadouglasarchery15 күн бұрын
Hey brother! I understand where you’re coming from. This is a cropped down angle from the full video that will be coming out covering why it’s a good tool to use for training. I definitely wish I could’ve had a different angle for the short, but in the full video you can see the target and the sight when I show it. It’s definitely hard to fit a 10+ minute video in 30 seconds so it’s more of an eye catcher when people hear that my sight is covered! I appreciate the feedback and the fact you’re willing to comment instead of just keep scrolling, need more people like you 💪🏻🤝🏻
