Ngl that v10 turn table moment in the tunnel was insane. It really gapped itself away from the modern F1

You can visually see them pass eachother like twice. The Ferrari gets ahead in the complex sections and the Renault gets ahead on the straights. The way those v10's got out of the hole too. Slow in the corners but quick to leave them.

imagine modern aerodinamics and tires with a v10 or v12. It would reach easily 400 km/h in a straight line.
@ShortHistory33Ай бұрын
No not really 😅. The v6 engine has more hp than the v10 v8 and v12s. Modern aero has a lot more drag than the old aero thats also the reason why we will see new aero in 2026

Modern, technology, eco, ya ya ya... But Renault get in and out in tunel a little much fast as ferrari 24, point!! Engine sound is magic
@M3dicationJr3 ай бұрын
I think it's awesome to see the differences, 2024 has more downforce and grip (due to fully grooved tires), but 2004 is much better under acceleration, and has a lot more speed. It's crazy to see how F1 has changed over the years. And yes, there is also the loud v10, but personally, I think the v6 engine sounds pretty cool as well.

Aren't they!!!! I still don't know what the smoke is on most corners on mine. It seems like it's on downshift, I need some footage from behind it (Peter!!!). Pete's once the race finishes is very smokey through turn 1.

Exactly that! One to bore the grandkids with in 30 years! Alway nice when there’s people commentary with races like that. Makes for a much nicer edit! Jack and Mark are a great team. All set for the Birkett or work to do?
@dc2blair4 ай бұрын
You can show them what a petrol car used to be and what we did with them ! The pig should be back to full power again having been 30% down on fuel pressure at the end of the race. We’ve also turned the bbq flames down a bit. They accidents got put back on during the last remap. Civic needs some power steering lines so it doesn’t to the smoke show again, then need to work out why the ecu thought it detected an issue and was cutting power. So not exactly a spanner check but we should be okay. I agree, the commentary brings the race to life.

@JamesWilson2344 ай бұрын
Yeah he was a good guy. It’s pot luck who you get on the day to be honest but they are usually all pretty good. Listen to what they say and you’ll be overtaking much quicker cars but slower drivers in no time at all. I’ve been with MSV, OpenTrack and Javelin. All pretty good, just keep an eye out for any nutters and give them a wide birth! Good luck, let me know how it goes.

@@JamesWilson234 Really good fun. There are a good mix of corners, a couple of really challenging parts and it was encouraging to gradually be doing faster sectors and laps as the day progressed. Next visit I will be looking for some consistency now I've learned the best lines for the car. Good luck on the 29th.

THE, "SOUND OF THE F1 V10 ENGINE IS UNMISTAKABLE!"" IT'S LIKE MUSIC AND, "IT'S MY FAVORITE SONG!" I MISS THE SOUND OF WHAT F1 USED TO BE! BRING BACK THE REAL REAL FORMULA 1 BECAUSE IF IT TAKES A BILLIONAIRE TO OWN A TEAM. THAN A BILLIONAIRE CAN FIND AWAY TO USE A V10 AS THE POWER UNIT OR HIRE. A DIIRECTOR WHO WILL! FORMULA 1 IS NOT A DEMOCRACY!

Flat out the V10 easily closed the gap and pulled ahead after it trailed behind through the corners a bit. It stuck extremely close despite falling behind. With full slicks it absolutely would have taken the lead and kept it. Most fans fail to realize that full slicks can give an F1 car another 2-5 sec on average per lap. The grooved tires were implimented by the FIA specifically to slow the cars down especially in the corners. It worked but not as much as they hoped.
@tacticalmattressАй бұрын
Just made them develop cars that could holeshot out of the corner better. FIA is like a clueless parent

How does the v10 go from being down half a second or so behind before entering the tunnel to magically being up half a second on the exit? There's a segment missing in the v10 footage. The cut to the car zooming past in the morning tunnel and back to on board is where the edit happened.
@JamesWilson2346 ай бұрын
I think you’ve nailed it! Quickest tunnel start to finish EVER!

There's no edit. That Renault is just much quicker out of the hole. The Renault in the beginning was also ahead momentarily.

The most key section where people lose time on this track is quarry from either braking too early, unsettling the car on the crest or braking far too late and losing the line!

Thanks for the comment Robert. It’s a pleasure to watch Shaun in the 205. There’s some characteristics in it that just seem so different to my 206, naturally of course. But we often merge to the same piece of race track which is great!

The 205 has some pretty trick bits, Straight cut dog box, dry sump, ITB's, CNC head. Its anything but a 40 year old car under the hood. Shaun can drive that thing as well.
