Snetterton Hot Lap & Circuit Guide! Snetterton 300 Track Guide

Welcome back to the channel! I'm excited to be able to bring you an updated Snetterton Hot lap video where I found a whopping 3.5 seconds of lap time compared to my last effort and video! So where did I find the time?
Well it's in a new car - but not necessarily a faster car, another standard engined Peugeot 206 Gti 180, like my red one was.
What is different to my last car is the set up. I now have a few degrees of rear camber which really plants the back end. I have also got rid of the ABS so not only have I saved some weight, but I now have totally control of the brake pressure was a real issue in my old car. This is a game changer!
So a bit of set up, bit of weight saving and more confidence in the car is where the time has been found, as opposed to more BHP.
Despite this being my fastest lap of the Snetterton 300 circuit, there's still plenty of time to be found. I'm hoping to get into the 13's at my next race meeting there which is in March 2023.

Seeing the daption for Bomb Hole as "Bum Hole" has been a highlight of the day :) Recently drove Snetterton for thr first time and looking forward to going back soon.

Great smoothe (and quick) lap, James. I still have to use 2nd for Oggies (not enough Torque below 4,500 in the ST). Apart from that, your lap doesn't look too different to mine - except much quicker. I would have appreciated the engine sound just a little higher in the mix to hear the changes, that's all. Notice you 'push-pulled' a fair bit on that lap, not something that I do as a matter of course (tight hairpins an exception).

Thanks Ian. I have traditionally used 2nd for Oggies but I think there is enough torque and momentum for me now to keep it in 3rd these days. On that lap I didn’t particularly butcher the kerb either so there’s more time to be had. I’d never heard of push-pulled before until I looked it up on KZbin just now! But you’re right, I’m going through a bit of a dodgy phase in the new car where something isn’t quite right with: seating positioning/ wheel size/ power steering response. I feel like I need too much lock for medium speed corners and however I’m sat I can’t get my arms to stay on the wheel. It’s strange but I haven’t figured it out yet. Keep your videos coming! Nice driving! It seems you're now much smoother than in the older video. I think you still have at least a second to improve if you can hit the apexes even more accurately. How much tyre wear and temperature do you need to think for laps like this? This is not a qualifying after all.

Thanks Mikko and totally agree. There’s more time there so I’ll be pushing for that sub 14s lap time if the weather is good in March! Hot brakes, tyres and low fuel are all handy things but nothing beats following a car you know is faster and doing everything you can to hold onto it. I think that made a huge difference!

Why are you hoping to get into the 17’s when you’ve just got into the 14’s?? Nice driving by the way - looks smooth and planted. Is that an iPhone you’re using for in car lap timing?
