Yikes, was about to pull the trigger on this knife until I saw the spine whack test. That is terrifying. No way.

Pro tip: hold the lock back and stick a thin bolt or split pin in the gap to wedge it back. Leave it overnight, repeat if necessary.

If you use a knife for cutting it should cut all the extra stuff buy the expensive knife if you want a x caliber too funny I have the kershaw and it is great knife for cutting not beating or sacking the vibration will make the knife function move too funny 🥤

👍Good review. Made in USA is a plus. I have this BenchMade 300 but can’t seem to get a great edge nor will it hold sharpness. I have no issue sharpening blades so I would like to have the steel checked. Disappointed upon working the edge. Just my opinion. ✌️

It looks like you just need to disassemble the knife and remove a little material from the lockup area, I have the same knife with the d2 blade and after stoning a little material off of the frame lock it has 60 percent Lockup and is rock solid in a spine whack.

Mine came with a LLLLOT of blade play in 2021, like the pivot was loose. It was also FAR from centered -- the blade actually rubbing against the liner opposite the liner lock spring -- and as a consequence does not flick out without assistance. IMO it is a rather delicate folding steak knife. It's what it looks like anyway.

Thanks, I just received a new one and the blade is made with D2 steel. Price is up now $59.99, but it's still a nice knife. My release button needs to loosen up and blade is sharp. but could be sharper. This is my first Auto.

I have a Delica 4, and I decided I need a Paramilitary 2! I would use the Delica 4 as a work/church knife, and the Paramilitary 2 for a weekend/camping knife. I love the Delica, and this seems like the beefier big brother. I also want a Pacific Salt 2 in LC200N for fishing and kayaking.

I’m speaking from the future. I live in 2021, nearing August. The BM940:is the best EDC you can purchase. Yes, I have Para 3 and Rockstead Hizen. The BM 940 is the perfect knife.

This knife is made for stabbing, if you grab the knife and stab it gurantee it wont fail you, your grip is strong, its just ok knife for self defense if you got ambush situation, Unlike cold steel.. made for self defense toward killing/ assult .. this one is for utility and self defense

I have both the Spyderco Pm2 (S110V) , Para 3 (S110V) , and the 940 (S30V). The true competitors are between the Para 3 (S110V) and the Benchmade S90V. Investing in any of the two will be well worth it. The BM 940, S30V classic is a must have, yet so is the Para 3 counterpart. I cannot make up my mind on which is best for an EDC. If you can purchase them during pandemic, get the best blade steel, S110V or S90V in any model. Added plus if the 940 or Para 3 models.

My fave tactical knife. I don't think you need a $200 knife in M390, or 20SV for tactical purposes. It's not an EDC. 8cr13mov is good enough. In fact, they're cheap so get one to carry, and get another to practice your fancy kali knife fighting hacking and slashing techniques on a cheap pork shoulder roast. Not to mention you won't be stressing out if you lose it. Let's call a tactical knife for what it is without the political correct BS. It's a self-defence knife. A fighting folder. Something you'll hope you'll never want to have to actually use and hopefully you don't carry it thinking you're a tough guy, or to be a thug or a punk. Tactical folders have to deploy quickly and positively. That's why a fixed blade with a quick draw sheath is actually the best tactical blade. But if a fixed blade isn't your bag then I think the Emerson wave opener is far better than a Spydie hole, thumbstud, flipper, or even assisted openers or automatics -- all which take time to draw from your pocket, and deploy and requires trained motor skills which could fail when you're under pressure in a life threatening situation. Usually an attack is going to be sudden like an ambush, sucker punch or a shove and you're not going to have the luxury, especially with an adrenaline dump and hands shaking, to do your fancy Spydie flick openings. If you're taken to the ground you might be fumbling with trying to draw and open the knife unless you regularly practice drawing and deploying the knife while flat on your back and how many actually do? The "wave" when correctly positioned in your pocket will deploy as fast as a fixed blade in my opinion and if it fails you always have the option to use the thumbstud as a back up. Even on a failed attempt the wave will at least partially open the blade and then you can then use the ground, or even your leg out of desperation to open it the rest of the way if you're downed on the ground. The drop/spear point style blade seems robust and thick around the tip, and the 4 inch blade gives plenty of reach. It's got a large frame lock surface area for lock up on this knife and I can't foresee it accidentally closing on the fingers. The market is cluttered with "tactical folders" like the Spyderco Yojimbo, and scary looking karambit knives but I think this inexpensive CQC 4KXL is optimized to work as it was intended to do. Hopefully you'll never have to use it.

I've owned a half dozen Kershaw Blurs in various steels and colors and the blue was the first to have a very early lockup and fail the spine whack test. Since I de-assist my Blurs, I took a little off the liner lock top and now have about a 40% lockup and no lock failure.

Something I’ve noticed about the manix lock where I was going wrong I was trying to pull down on both sides of the lock which isn’t necessary. Just close it by pushing down on only one side of the lock & not both. Same for opening it if u don’t flick it with the spyderco hole. It’s still a bit tight however mine is very new. We’ll see in a few weeks I’d prefer the para2 compression lock on the manix. I do agree it’s nothing like the axis lock in the way the feel at all! Similar concept but the feel and operate differently. MANXI is a hefty spring.
