Great tips, Ricky! I resonated with you when you mentioned you went to Brazil to see the world cup and it changed your life. I felt the same when I went to Qatar to see the world cup final!! The experience was so powerful that I have decided to start traveling full time from 2025!! Nice seeing you at the POT conference last month!

There are some Japanese youtubers who make travel videos where they never show their face and never talk. They film in in such as way that you feel as if you are in the video and experiencing the first class flight they are taking. Sometimes I like to watch these just to relax.

I really like to go to second cities (say Busan or Kaohsiung) on a second trip after making a first trip to a main city (Seoul or Taipei). Once you've seen the major sites in the big cities, you have time for side trips on subsequent visits. And since the cost is the same when you're paying in miles, I've started planning my trips in a way that includes these kinds of side trips. (Also, Guangzhou is really nice, so I'd say it's totally worth flying through there or Shenzhen even when you want to go to Hong Kong in any case. The border crossing between Hong Kong and the mainland is an adventure in and of itself.)

I do enjoy specifically your credit card points / loyalty program videos; but generally regarding the content you (and say, Non Stop Dan or Vicarious Voyager) produce, for me, it's more about the vicarious nature of it -- living the travel experiences through your eyes like I am there experiencing it myself. It puts me in a good mood. And when I can't travel, I like seeing people enjoy travelling luxuriously while they share tips for doing so. Spread the knowledge. Plus, it gives me ideas for planning my own travel experiences.

Really appreciating all the lessons you’re including in your video, I think theyre super valuable for creators and viewers. Going back to Professionalizing your brand. Whats the best way to hire an editor for your videos? I ask because I’m starting to realize that editing burns so much of my time and has been difficult to increase output with a 9-5 job as well. My current idea is to try out different editors on Upwork and finding one I can work with longterm. Thanks for your thoughts!
@_Ricky2 күн бұрын
Yes, finding an editor who's a good long-term can be a real challenge, as I've found over the course of my career. Your plan sounds like a good one, I would say it's important to be upfront about the fact that you're looking for someone who can work with you for a long time, and also to search for someone who has a similar intuitive grasp of your editing and storytelling style as yourself. After that, it's about giving clear feedback and assessing the editor based on how quickly they can absorb your feedback (i.e., implement a certain style and keep it going without you having to remind them). It can be a long process with a fair bit of trial and error, though, so if you find that that's the case just keep in mind that it isn't out of the ordinary!
@__withMark2 күн бұрын
@_Ricky Really appreciate it! Will keep this in mind during my search and may have already found someone surprisingly quickly who’s done lots of the things you said to search for

I’ll give you one more. They slaughter 1000 whales a year and leave most of them to rot in the water and say it’s for “tradition”
@sunset_loverx4 күн бұрын
Im from there and we dont leave them to rot we eat most of it
@Luca-xh7ng4 күн бұрын
@@sunset_loverx around 1000 pilot whales get killed in a inhumane fashion totaling roughly 2.3mln kg of meat. You are telling me that every man woman and child in Faroe eats 50kg of whale meat every single year? Don’t get me wrong I also eat fish I catch myself spear fishing but the gridradrap is disgusting practice especially considering the methods and the abundance of alternative fish source around faroe that is not intelligent or in danger like a damn pilot whale

This was a great video! Kind of a BTS look at what you do. I’ve been following you as “the prince of travel” for many years before I found your KZbin. My bigger question is…. How do you learn the business side of this? Like…how do you learn how to get affiliate links, find advertisers for support, etc. did you go to college? Do you have a MBA? What degrees would you think helpful in doing what you do. I’ve gotta admit, I’m jealous. I’m a physician, with dual board certifications. I worked hard, but know nothing of the business side of medicine. Your job is waaaaaaay better! Thanks for all the content. I just booked some rooms in Qatar for F1 this year, based on your price of travel hotel reviews there.

These are great questions. I plan to share more on the "how to learn" side and the behind the scenes in the future, so stay tuned 😀
