Not the best choice of background music. I had to turn on the captions and off the sound because I wanted the information. Not my favorite way of watching a video but it was very informative. 😊

Thanks for this video. You cover a lot of information and you do a really great job of showing some of the ideas that are explained on Bruce MacEvoy’s Handprint website. I especially like the addition of the detail strokes and the softening. 😊

I've been looking into making homemade gouache and one says to add 2-3 drops of vinegar into distilled water to prevent mold. So I guess you could add very diluted vinegar into your paint to prevent mold. I would test in one small amount of paint. 🤷🏾♀

Thank goodness for closed captioning! That beep is good for torture, not as background for an otherwise lovely video.

The alarm clock music makes this unwatchable with the sound on. Good info in the video though. It was fun seeing all the ways the captions tried to say "gansai"

This is a deeply felt powerful account of direct and institutional racism that is globally felt and globally shared. In the UK many black people fear medical seeking and having intervention due to the disparities in health outcomes, and inequality in health. Government reports have shown that in all the 5 key areas of health black people have the less successful health outcomes. Thank you so much for putting together this very much needed explanation and examination of how racism impacts on melanated people. It should be a global embarrassment.

Thank you for this exceptional video in terms of insightful commentary and thoroughness of your review. I too, appreciate these beautiful colours and the work that has gone into them. I don’t yet have my own set from A. Gallo but I hope to own one soon. You are definitely one of the artists that has helped me make that decision.

This is a good showcase for how great monotones are for botanical subjects! I grow all sorts of orchids, being a lifelong orchid and botany nerd, but was never satisfied with my paintings of them until I did one using just Payne's grey. Using just variations of tone and hydration to render form and texture made everything pop like never before. So I do much more monotone and very restricted palette stuff now. (O how it makes me feel sophisticated and superior LOL! No but it does put a spring in my step when a sketch is that exciting and rewarding.)

The M. Graham effect you are seeing is interesting, especially since I see a lot of people experiencing the same thing. I can't help but wonder whether Graham uses raw honey, which will crystalize. I can't imagine that being the case, as raw honey is more expensive, more reactive (presence of enzymes, proteins), and less stable, but maybe?

I love the painting you made, but the backgroundnoise was só distracting, it even gave me a headache, so I had to mute it and only watch what you've made (and that is so cool!). Too bad, because I really wanted to hear what you were saying about Gansai Tambi.

Holbien doesn't use astm, international standard to test their lightfastness. They claim to have their own method of testing, but without the international standards it could be completely invented values. Personally i wouldn't trust a company that doesn't use the astm standards.

I am curious to know why so many artists want wet Gouache? They do reactivate like watercolor. Plus, when they are allowed to dry out, that also takes care of the mold issue. Hmmm.
