I just started a trial period on MS Project and mine doesn't like this at all. The top tool bar is missing completely. It looks very simplified down to just task lists in the grid, board, timeline and chart views. There is no plethora of tools and no excel chart to inform the timeline and critical path the way you're showing here. Do you know the reason?? Did they completely change the design of MS Project recently?
@TomStephensontraining7 күн бұрын
I think what is going on is you have the online version and you are just going into the MS project stripped down online version without accessing the version that gets downloaded to your laptop. I had this happen to me and it’s very frustrating. Check your laptop and type in project and see if MMS project is an icon that comes up by check I mean just do a search if it does click on it and you should be good to go. If not, then you should talk to Microsoft rep and see how to download that with your subscription. I hope that helps.
@bryonpotter5587 күн бұрын
@@TomStephensontraining I see. I am using a Macbook Pro and I'm not certain if I can download MS Project directly onto the laptop and didn't see that option while clicking on the trial version. I will look into it and see what my options are.

Those do not look like construction financials. Not enough profit. Buying land when you are growing give you financial diabetes. Subscribing. Channel is interesting.
@TomStephensontraining16 күн бұрын
The profit margins are reasonable except if you are a developer then they are a lot higher. Sub contractors might be more in the 10-15 percent range. It’s always interesting to look up financials of publicly traded companies. Everything is there, the tough part about construction is there is no limit to how much over budget you can be on a single project but there is a limit to how much you can be under budget. You can literally blow your profit on 5 good projects with one bad project. Something to ponder. Thanks so much for watching

Great Video! Learned alot! I just want to ask what's the difference of UPDATE and RECOVERY in the file names that you're making?
@TomStephensontraining19 күн бұрын
I have a video that goes through file naming protocols and you can download the files if you check the description of my MS project the course playlist. Really the only difference in the name is I substitute update with recovery, dates and other information is the same as the update file that I’m performing the recovery on.

Good day, i would like to ask if its possible to change the max units from percentage to whole number or number only? I hope you can help me sir tom
@TomStephensontraining20 күн бұрын
I don’t have my computer with me but if f you go to options under the file menuthere should be a spot to change it to units instead of percentage. Let me know if that helped. Just be careful what you change in options as it can mess with things, try it in a practice file.

Are these similar to drawings in the US? I would want to spend all the hours mindfully. Please let me know sir.
@TomStephensontraining22 күн бұрын
Yes the only difference is some use metric measurements instead of imperial measurements. Codes can differ state to state and province to province. Otherwise how to read and interpret drawings is very universal. Building methods pretty much the same with wood frame construction.

Hello sir and thank you for the very informative tutorials. I'm working for an EPC-contractor specialized in High Voltage Substations. We normally have a contractual start- and end-date with a number of milestones in between. We need to plan "backwards" from the End-date to find the possible duration of every dicipline (eartwork, erection and installation, testing and comissioning etc). Do you have a tutorial on the best practice without using the SF dependancy too much?
@TomStephensontraining22 күн бұрын
I have fairly recent videos on pull planning. Once you have that you can enter the information like a regular schedule with the logical dependencies. But getting the it is best to pull plan as part of a last planner system. Let me know if that is what you meant.
