Dayyumm Bro you got that Sony c80 sounding good what pre did you use? I used it with my Avalon but what ever pre you using it most def brings more character out fasho!

It was the neve 1073N on this one. I also use it with the tubetech channel strip. The neve definitely gives it a more expensive sound. Either one of those Pres I use will make it sound bigger than the Avalon tho. Avalon doesn’t have much character which works best with mics with character. The Sony is clean 🧼 so with Avalon it’ll almost be too clean.

That Sound! It was the C800, right? I think there is only one mic that sounds like the C800 (nonG), it's the Brauner VM1. High End German Mic for around 5k. There is the more vintage sounding Brauner, the VMX (fuller lows, rounder highend) and the VMA (that combines both for around 8k) it has this big 3d sound known from the big 5, but in a more modern way. I had the GAP and i think it's ok but not on the Brauner Level. Startet to mod it to a real C800 G.

@@JaeBTundra1⁠yes I’ve done a few songs with the 67. I didn’t like it as much as I thought it always came across dark with a midrange that you either want all the time or don’t. The 87 is a tad bit more open but not ccas 3d but the right 87 is good they all sound different I found a good sounding one.

Try the symphony first bro if you want pure quality. I sold my x6 and twin x for it. Never looking back. They were good for sure but symphony is pro level to my ears.

u think distressor with wa2a sounds better together than the original cl1b on hiphop and overall? which Neve 1073 u have LB? have u looked into the wa 8000 thats a good mic too

I’ve had both the lb and the n. The n has more clarity the lb does a great job tho and sounds close minus the top end. As far as compressors I’m back using the tubetech. It’s hard to beat that sound. The distressor is still a great option

@@Dreza_officialI would go for the Sony c100 over the wa8000. Then I would grab a real neve either one is fine and then I would grab the wa1b by warm or a distressor. That would get you a very big vocal chain. If you really like the warm then get a wa73eq and the wa1b and stick to warm. I’m just firm now on getting stuff made by the real company vs clones when it comes to mics due to the capsule being the most important factor in the sound.

Easily top 5 in the best monitors I’ve ever heard. Actually sounds fuller than the larger ATC. ATC has a bigger sweet spot and openness to them

@@psycholarge I took a look at the circuit for the Warm Audio WA1B, and it's nowhere near the same as the CL1B. They're using an entirely different set of input and output transformers, and the gain reduction element (optocell) is different also. It's basically a single channel Art VLA II, using vactrols and adding transformers.

I got a real la2a distressor and a Cl1b. I’m not sure I will touch the distressor for vocals again. Just got a Sony this week too. Absolutely love that mic man. Got rid of a u67 reissue and a Manley ref c for it. So far well worth it imo
