I don't want to leave teaching; I'm very good at it and still enjoy it after 20 years. I would like to add curriculum/instructional designer...are there opportunities for contractual work here? Can this be done only remotely? How do I add this component?

Honestly, the younger you are, the better because you probably won't be demanding a $150,000 salary! You can start a new career anywhere and start with an entry level position!

She and I both taught. She liked to do a type of stitchery. I knew nothing about that. She had devised a very simple item, and wanted to try to sell it. "Ok, I will look for places for you to sell it." Of all the venues that I found, the most interesting was a regional stitchery show. We devised a display panel, signed up for the show. Myself and another guy loaded our truck and took the display a couple of states north. We had no idea what we were doing. We set up her display and waited. When the show opened, we were swamped. I called her that evening, and she wanted to know if we had sold anything at all. I told her we wrote orders all day long. She had sold over 2,000 items. Thus began a business which became national. She developed a cut and sew business. She designed patterns, sold books, and then moved into the gift market. What a ride. Happily, I did her computer work and shipping. We were married for 60 years, and she worked up to about two weeks before the cancer took her.

I need help desperately. My 23 year old daughter went to work in a title one school last year. It was extremely toxic. Instead of helping her to acclimate, she was ostracized and harassed for speaking out. Long story short, she was arrested for having an organized fight club, blasted all over the media and now has been dis with having PTSD. I want to get her story out, but don’t know how.

The government pays an average of $14,347 per child, each year. 😅 Each teacher should be able to teach 10 kids per class and earn a good living. Bureaucratic bloat and mismanagement is the problem not the amount of money. If the department of education can't manage their money, throwing money at the problem may not be the answer 🤔

Hi. I'm a fresh graduate in TESL, but taking the course was not by my own choice. Right now I'm planning to prepare myself to get out of teaching after finishing my contract, let's say in 3 years. So here's my question: Is it risky if I were to part time learning during my teaching career taking Master’s Degree of other field unrelated to Education? I just can't see myself in teaching; I am more to working individually and flexible with a small team. Also, I am more to office works about projects.
@byeteaching2 ай бұрын
I completely understand where you're coming from. It's great that you're already planning ahead for a transition out of teaching! To answer your question, no, it's not necessarily risky, especially since you'll be building skills in a new area. If you know teaching isn’t your long-term path, this is a good time to explore options that align with your interests, like working independently or in project-based office roles. Just make sure to balance your teaching responsibilities with your studies to avoid burnout. Consider looking into degrees or certifications in fields like project management, business, or something tech-related-areas where you can work independently or with small teams and focus on projects. I offer these as well, if interested! :)

I have applied to jobs in higher ed with no luck. These aren’t teaching jobs, they’re more like student advising. I have 8 years of secondary teaching experience and taught college level classes, so I feel that is relevant experience but maybe I’m wrong. I’m a good writer and I feel I write strong cover letters, but maybe my resume isn’t highlighting my strengths.

I know that feeling ... and you have some exceptional skills that you can highlight on your job application materials. Are you not getting interviews? or are you not moving past your interviews? Two separate solutions for each case.
