I love reading fanfiction when I'm really into a fandom and the characters at the moment. Or when I can't decide which "normal" book I want to read next / can't find one that sounds interesting. Fanfics also have the benefit that there are short and long ones and you can dip into relationships and moments, that are not in the original source. For my unpoular opinions.. I only read MxM storys, I stop reading when I can't follow the plot due to too many spellings / grammar mistakes, I mostly search for finished storys, since I hate to start reading and then the story never gets finished, storys should be longer than 1k words, I HATE y/n and reader pov with a passion, always exclude crossovers because I mostly never watched/read the other sources, always skip storys without a summary, I enjoy a good mpreg story and also the occasional (non sexual) de-aging of a character where it fits (I love reading family dynamics), I like sickfics and mostly skip storys with Major Character Death because that always makes me cry and I really don't need that in the middle of the night or when reading while not alone. When it comes to Fanfics websited... I only read on AO3 or Fanfiction.de (a german side). I hate Fanfic.net with a passion because I always got suspicious private mails and Wattpad is dead to me, because of various things.

There's one chatfic in a very small fandom that I absolutely ADORE! Its the absolute best fic I have read in that fandom and O always get super excited when it gets updated (like 2 times a year 😂). I gotta say it falls into the 'rare' cathegory of chatfics because it actually has a story, character and relationship development and is not justo mindless chaos as most I have seen 😅 but seriously, one of the best fics I have ever read

I kinda wish there was a platform that combined the best parts of Wattpad (book cover design, commenting on each paragraph, profile design, maintaining your spot in the story) and AO3 (tag system). Like I started off using Wattpad but switched to AO3 but held off on joining for a long time because AO3 seemed confusing at first. Now I only use AO3 and struggle to use any other fanfiction platform because AO3’s tag system is absolutely unmatched. However, I do miss a lot of aspects about Wattpad from time to time and wish I could just have the best of both worlds on one platform.
