So. As a TF2 fandom enjoyer, I have an explanation of sorts for all this. I'm not the first to draw comparisons between TF2's Sniper and Gummigoo. They both have Australian accents, wear the same style of hat, have a crocodile association, and have a "rugged outdoorsman" type vibe. But it's not by accident, the reason is because they both share the same trope lineage. Both of them are inspired by Mick Dundee from the 80s film Crocodile Dundee, which was the movie that popularised the "rugged Australian" trope. Why is this important? Crocodile Dundee is an action _romantic comedy_ and starred heartthrob actor Paul Hogan. So I'm not surprised at all that fans found Gummigoo and ended up really liking him. He's based off of a really charismatic character!

Pomni didnt connect with any of the other circus humans. Going by her nightmare at the start and the way she acts in the pilot, she distrusts everyone. (And despite Ragatha’s attempts at getting closer to Pomni, Pomni doesnt budge) If Gummigoo lived, Pomni likely wouldve never reached the conclusion that she could trust and rely on the other circus members. Why would she care about that when there’s only one person she feels close with and he’s right there with her 💔 She’d spend all her time with him
