Great video! What bridge did you cross going to the coffee shop? I thought it was the woodland st bridge but I didn’t recognize those buildings. Wow, been a long time since I’ve been downtown. lol. I’ll ride highways but interstates around Nashville, no way. Hwy 100, 96, 70 and cruise the backroads is fine for me. I see a Triumph in your future. Ride safe! Edit: oops…that was the Korean’s Veteran bridge. Still, I don’t recognize those buildings. lol.

Bugzy, that was good stuff! I agree motorcyclist have some great people! I've ridden with the CT Rockers since 2009. All motorcycle types in the bunch, but mostly Triumphs, BMW' and European bikes. When I got deathly ill in 2014, and was in the ICU for 3 weeks, with a open heart surgery, for a new heart valve, new pacemaker, lost sight in my right eye and 50 pounds, due to a freak infection, my motorcycle friends stepped up! I was between jobs, with no insurance, or paycheck. We had to sell our Mini Cooper for money to live on, and file for Bankruptcy after $250,000 of hospital bills. The CT Rockers turned their annual Reunion Party into a benefit for me and my wife. They raised thousands of dollars for us. A group of them also collected materials, and came over to patch our leaking roof. I eventually received SS Disability. I'm okay now, and still ride with them when I can. What an amazing group of people! You and Justin would fit right in. Enjoy the ride, and be safe!

Wow that’s amazing! I’m so happy you recovered from that. People can be so unbelievably kind, sounds like that group is full of compassion. Love hearing from you!

Looks like you did great on the highway! The only advice I'll pass along is to plan for off-ramps well. If you're velocitized you may think you've slowed down enough but actually be going faster than you think. Also, scan those on/off ramps for stuff in the road. I had a friend total his bike after hitting a lost license plate that was laying in an on ramp. I almost hit a flattened pizza box while I was hard over into a turn from 24 into West Bridgewater. It had been hit by a bazillion cars and was as dirty as the road, so it was hard to see. Last bit of highway advice is to assume any vehicle that passes you may be hauling a trailer. I had a buddy try to tuck in behind a van and as he did his final look he realised he was counting the rivets in the trailer he didn't see! He didn't crash but it taught him a lesson he always tells new riders. Anyway, those Triumphs look like a blast! Keep up the good work!!!

I think you'll find highway riding will come to feel safer once you get used to the speed. You don't have to deal with intersections or cross traffic. Just make sure you stay out of people's blind spots and keep looking 12 seconds ahead for any potential dangers.
@pcthayer2 күн бұрын
Beware if people have things on the roof of their cars. Once I passed by an accident where a bicycle flew off the car's roof rack and hit a group of sports bikes and a couple of them went down.

New friends aren't always friends ,bikes or no bikes. Please be careful! 60 years of riding has taught me a few harsh lessons that I DO NOT want someone as nice as you 2 to happen to. Of course that's not the norm but, it's worth a mention... believe me! Great Vid as usual!

Firstly, really glad you're ok. Secondly, thank you for your transparency and good job on educating new riders/non riders on the realities that come with motorcycles. Even seasoned riders like myself and others who have posted here will make mistakes, and all we can hope for is that when we do, we deal with them the best way we know how. You did great given the situation.

I recently did a 2000~ mile trip around Colorado over two weeks, camping off the bike and just figuring it out day by day. I had zero plans other than to ride mountain passes and to see as many national parks as I could. What a way to clear your head. What a way to meet other riders. What a way to see the country. There is nothing I love more than riding my bike on long distance trips, taking back roads and meeting folks. I hope the future of this channel involves some road trips because it's such a fun thing to do. Great video, I really enjoy experiencing your journey on motorcycles.

@@motomike71 You can make a good attempt with the bikes Bugzy is looking at, especially thru New England and Canada. I would love her to experience the Cabot Trail on Cape Bretton, NS someday. I've gone a few times (either on my 750cc or 850cc bikes). Only issue is sometimes it is foggy there, but personally it is as nice and beautiful as RTE 1 California.

@@motomike71 BTW...Brian's homepage shows a Yamaha Tenere 700 so he may have done his trip on that? (2K/14 days is less than 150 miles a day...easy peasy. 🙂)

@@pcthayer Yep, I did my trip on a Tenere 700. Even so, riding a bike and staying in a hotel is totally doable on just about any bike. Road trips are fun as heck.
@pcthayerКүн бұрын
@@BSpenceTravels Yes they are. I 100% agree that you don't need a touring bike to do road trips. In my younger days when I traveled, I switched between campgrounds and hotels. Met a lot of friendly bikers at the campgrounds who could tell you places to go and others to avoid too.

What do you think about the 5 speed Triumph on the highway? Was it OK? (That model is about $2K less than the 6 speed 1200 model) If you are going to do a lot of highway riding you should get a little windshield or fairing to block some of that wind that hits your body when you are going fast. Looks like you were having fun.
@BugzyMoto2 күн бұрын
I had a good time cruising this speed twin 900 on the highway, a wind screen + another gear would've made it better BUT I didn't feel like I was missing anything as far as power goes. I do think I'd want a 1200 though, now that I've ridden that scrambler 😍
@pcthayer2 күн бұрын
If you are going to MOM's to check out the Triumph 1200's, you may want to look at the 2025 Indian Scout Sport they have there for about the same money. (I believe the 2025 Scout has a new engine, which could be good or could be bad if they didn't get all the bugs out.)

You are doing great on the highway you never rode next to trucks or cars that can’t see you, i always said the best asset of a bike is to be agile and fast, this you use to alway be in the best space for YOU, just like Mohamed Ali would say « dance like a butterfly, sting like a bee »😂 I must say that front brake reservoir hose is pretty bent, i would take some of the kink out for normal flow….,
