Thank you for this video on how to unbind books. The way so many books are coming out on smooth paper now, I feel that I am going to have to take a lot of pages out to treat them with gesso, so that I can add some tooth to them..

Agreed, all sets absolutely need a purple...or dare I say 2 purples, one reddish purple and one bluish violet. ("Is she going to ask for the Sun and the Moon, too!!) Maybe. It makes me grind my teeth a little when I see huge sets of pencils that don't have a full range of beautiful purples. Orange colors are usually hard to find, too. It looks like this Lyra comes with a true orange, which is nice. I have yet to hear another youtube reviewer complain about the lack of orange colors, so maybe it just isn't a popular color? I don't know.

Good video! I’m planning on getting some M Graham paints for my birthday next month. I’m doing my due diligence & watching as many review videos as possible. On a side note, do you think a weekly Am / Pm pill keeper would be good as a Plein Air palette ( or at least to hold the gooey M Graham paints? If it’s one with reasonable large individual holders. You can hold 14 paints & it has snap shut lids on each individual container. Fingers crossed; no leaking, creeping paint.

7:03 try thrifted/pre-owned paint sets- those expensive pigments were very common a few decades ago. Maybe not for acrylics which can dry solid after that long, but watercolours always rewet

I want to add my two cents. I am just getting used to the quality of the paints I purchased. Of course I wanted the Turners Yellow. It is delicious and bright. I got my own few colors. Alizarin Crimson, yellow green and red oxide. They are all transparent. This is awesome. the way they mix and are amazing for glazing. I will try some more colors to play with,

I would suggest spritzing canvas with water first then apply with damp brush. Much smoother texture.

Thank you for that - I believe in a limited palette and want to try out the Daniel Smith to see how they mix. In the comparison chart with other brands, it does appear that you used a brighter white paper with the DS than you did with all the others (?) so maybe not a true comparison.
