In my last trip to South-Africa, a person was actually bitten by a snake. Because we are in a mining enviroment, they have snake wranglers to remove snakes from offices and stores or the mines. They have a fully equiped ambulance and also have several anti venoms. The snake was killed and the docter/snake wrangler identified is as not dangerous, so to wound was treated. But obviousely it gave us a bit of a scare. Especially because it was close to the restaurant.

Try different wire, Lincoln NR 211 mp, I find to run the best with much less spatter. Some other good wires are US Forge, and Matheson. Decent looking welds for beginner. Welding takes lots of practice. Oh, and a better ground clamp will help very much, I have this same machine among a few others, tig, and stick. God bless and work safe.

Hey mate, really nice that I found your videos, as I kept having my MIG175st popping. And it seems it was too high of Amp, and thanks to your videos, my welds are now looking better. Got confused on my MIG175st, with the Amp and wire speed setting, which you have explained well. And the first knob is as such not speed.

The endplates are meant to be like sails, because big boxy shapes are lossy especially under yaw. It makes sense to make them like sails, you get better control of the wake downstream, you use less mass on the end plate, which means you deal with fewer bending loads which means you can make the whole wing lighter because less inertia at the tips.
@rolandotillit286710 ай бұрын
One thing, I don't think the S duct is very lossy, because the pressure in the undercut gives you a favorable pressure gradient. In fact because of that favorable pressure gradient, it's the best place to put an inlet, as you're minimizing losses, especially over the side pod since the inlet is not there to disturb the flow going over the pod, not to mention if the overbite is working like a LEX, then the flow will be even cleaner as it makes its way to the rear of the car.
@rolandotillit286710 ай бұрын
I have a feeling that the undercut does a good job of accelerating air along the side of the car, and the flow above the sidepod is comparatively slower, which means the sidepod overall produces downforce. If the side pod produces downforce, then you can basically understand why RBR went with an overbite style inlet. As then the sidepod works like a LEX on a fighter jet, and keeps flow attached over the top of the sidepod under pitch down maneuvers like braking, and initial turn in. Another curious detail is in the lower wishbone and track rod on the front axle. Such a design certainly helps aerodynamically, especially at low speeds.

Unique commentary. I haven't heard anyone else say that RB may be copying Ferrari rather than Mercedes. Very interesting!
@maycodesignandengineering751410 ай бұрын
No After Testing everybody basically says something similar, Because they did not see the horizontal intake, people thought the vertrical intake like Mercedes had it, was a zeropod design. However i knew there was a horizontal one, and as i explained and like Ferrari does you do not place an intake close to the monocock unless you want to clean up the air flow. They also added two additional small intakes on either side of the driver helmet which no one saw before testing. The cannons on the back are Mercedes look a likes but more extreme, that is also why a lot of people refere to the design as a Mercedes copy.

Do the cannons have to be huge then? That small back outlet was still there on their car last year . Also, the cutout on the back wing is present on every team's cars.
@maycodesignandengineering751410 ай бұрын
Hi Pierre, hot air grows in volume and too high of a velocity will create resistance so i would say they need to expand the area to keep the flow under control, yet still fast enough that it does not create heat soak. Obviously this weeks testing will show if the corrolation between there simulation and real life enviroment is good. Furthermore the front wing is very important for this. I heard roomers there is going to be a new front wing with two seperated elements from the nose cone instead of 1 like most other teams have.

Hey Mate I watched a few of your videos. I like how enthusiastic you are in finding out how things work. Chapeau for that. I disagree with what your pro welder told you about penetrating more into the Material. Boosting the Amps is not the way to do it on, for example, 2mm thick boxsection. What I saw in your video is that you pulled your torch... Well, ok thats a possible way to Mig weld. But normaly the torch has to be pushed. By pushing your Mig torch you will penetrate more with slightely lower amps, wich prevent burning holes into your Material. Maybe you give it a go an try it that way and let me know how it worked for you . Regards from Germany 😉

Inductance smoothes out the peaks, so more inductance = smoother weld, no inductance = fierce arc, more spatter. You should try dialling down the volts a little and up the inductance to around 30-40% and it will give you a nice, clean bead. Practise, practise and practise. I've been welding for 40 years, from stick to Tig and in all that time it still surprises me, we never stop learning.

@maycodesignandengineering75142 жыл бұрын
Obviously depends on what you want to do with it, and how much money you want to spend. The settings are a bit different from profesional machines, but once you figure them out, i believe it is the best bang for your buck. But it comes with some short falls, which a profesional welder might require. Like a water cooled torch perhaps or wire speed control etc. I cannot advise you what to buy, just show what this machine can do. If you do your research and have experience you know what you use and what is a must for you. I made a video on what I did to make my option list. Next i looked for a welder within my budget who had most of these things. The Stahlwerk MIG 200 was by far the best especially since the price has been reduced. There is now a newer version of this machine Double pulse unit. (i do not have the double pulse unit). I hope this help you make your decission.

Well Buddy, I think your Problem is also that you try to keep a stady Hand and go straight forward. That doesnt work on thick Material. It simply need some movement. You can see at the End of your video at the fillet weld that you didnt penetrate the lower bit correctly. I would set the Volts a little more down wich will prevent for all those spatters. Just a few hints from 35 years of expierience in welding. 😉

Positive feedback is always welcome. Thank you. I will play a bit more with the setting also like half volt less for example might give the disired effect. i think it also has to do with how clean the material was.
