The truck isn't something you're supposed to charge before every ride. Rude. My New Years Onewheel Resolution is to learn to Curb Nudge. Every time I line up to do it, I chicken out. I just need to go to the park , pad up, and just do it over and over. For upgrades for the board, I want to get the Kiil Guard shocks for my GT-S.

@ThatsGinterEV sweet thanks! Have you ever blown out a tire from being too low? Just got a pint s before Christmas and I live in Northern Ontario (CAN) and have been trying it out in the snow, so far liking low for traction in snow but heard some rumblings about blowing out a tire going too low.. I obviously don't ride as hard as you guys as im new but still worry about it or damaging the hub/motor

I hate the one saying it but 120 USD for what is a D1 ESP32 with a 5V power supply and a PCB with some GH connectors is absolutely insane. That is easily 8 if not 10x the cost, and I know this because I have designed many PCB boards myself.

Did you have any issues with connecting to VESC tools, FLoaty, or Float control? Apparently someone on FB and myself had issues where the Floatprints was drawing more power and we couldn't connect. There's a workaround but not sure why I'm going back into the controller box to splice some wires.
@ThatsGinterEV29 күн бұрын
Nothing like that. I did have issues with staying connected to the Wifi for the RGB controller, but the BT connection to the GT-V VESC controller has been solid. For the wifi connection, I know our phones will disconnect if it doesn't see an internet connection tho.

@fernyred24Ай бұрын
Heavily depends on the kind of controller you use, the ubox and the thor controller all have dedicated ports for accessories and lights (5v and 12v) so if you have one of those controllers you can effectively just plug in to those ports and you have lighting. With controllers like the focer, you do need to have a separate lighting controller, which adds to the complexity.

Yea, I only briefly looked at those other options. Once I build out the XR-V, I'll have to see what else is available for that board.

I was lucky enough to get my Pioneer at Race for the Rails (long story, might be able to tell you on the 20th at the Holiday Lights Ride), and I put it on my GT-S the following day. Zero regrets, and my favorite tire in the dirt by a long shot (though I have not ridden the Trail Pro 2). I have bearing pullers handy, and I think I'll be using that method from here out to change my tires, especially since I've "bent" the lips of a couple pairs of tires while trying to man-handle them over the rims. I'll have to see about getting a PVC tube and cut a slot to allow the motor cable through so I can place the block all the way across and avoid it going in unevenly. I use four small nails as guides to ensure the cap is lined up properly before knocking it down and on. I'm sure there's something better out there, but I happened to have them handy once and have kept using them since.

Eventually, I want to switch one of my boards to a 5" hub. I can see FM coming out with their version here soon because third parties always seem to be always sold out. Would be nice if they could design it to be mag handle compatible for how many of those I have laying around. Looks like a fun desert trail! 🤙 The trails are mostly mud here in Washington State and the Pioneer 6.5 tire works well for that also. 👍

Dude you could’ve bought a Funwheel X7 for $2200!! It would’ve outperformed this board and provided a better ride because it’s on the XR platform with a 6 inch hub.

@EliteAtlantaHomesАй бұрын
@ Seems to be an awesome board! I was referring to you buying the GTS. I would’ve bought a Floatwheel or Funwheel instead even at that price because the GTS is already way overpriced. It realistically a $2k board and still can’t match either of the boards I mentioned.

@bigwavedaveskateАй бұрын
How are you liking the 5 inch hub and also the tire in respects to the high cost? As being someone budget conscious myself, do you think it’s really worth worth it please explain and PS love your videos. Keep them up.!!!!
@ThatsGinterEVАй бұрын
I love it, and as much as I hype up Onewheels and accessories, you are right - this hobby is expensive!! I try to remind my friends not to buy anything until you feel that you have enough experience and skill to KNOW you can benefit from it. As I explained in a previous video - the 5" hub gives you a lot more sidewall which gives you tire suspension that can absorb all that uneven terrain. As you may have seen, I was quite comfortable moving at speed quickly on some of this chunky trail cause I knew it wouldn't just bounce me off (lowered tire pressure is a huge help too!). As far as the tire goes, it's a very high tread tire...something I know I can also take advantage of on the loose gravel and sand I come across here in the washes of the desert. Holding onto that ground traction allows me to take the turns faster without slipping out. So yea, it's a safer ride for me and if it saves me from a hospital bill, then it's worth the cost! 😜
@bigwavedaveskateАй бұрын
@ Well funny thing about hospital bills… I’m still recovering from a horrible freak onewheel accident Oct 9. I almost died actually. Ripped my artery when my arm bent completely backwards. My son saved my life by using his shirt as a tourniquet & calling 911 !!! My floatwheel lost brakes on a small hill. The hall sensor failed ugh.
@SeanPaulNotTheSingerАй бұрын
Yikes, sorry to hear about the accident. Crazy. Glad you're recovering well enough to consider going back out there. As to your question to Steve... as someone who has gone through a lot of different Onewheel mods, the 5" hub has had the most impact of a single modification, though really, it's two modifications, as there's no factory tire that's 5". With TFL providing the cast version of the hubs, they're more affordable, but still expensive. I have two boards with 5" n52 hubs, a GT with a Street Pro 2 and a GT-S with the Pioneer. The GT-S is my dirt/trail board and it has the most benefit from the smaller hub with the added cushion/absorption. I also had GT with the Tech Rails 5' n52, that I had a Maxxis Rain on, and it was fabulous as well, but I gave that to my brother for his 45th birthday, and he's still loving that board with that set up. For me, looking at the bottom line, knowing that I have the choice between new rails or new hub/tire, and was thinking about the most impactful modification... it's the hub and tire, even though they're the more expensive choice. Rails would be my second upgrade.

@@SeanPaulNotTheSinger oh thx!!! yeah they’re out of stock of course but I’m definitely gonna get one now with your recommendation and yes, I’m barely getting back on my board but only paved easy flat pavement for now cause I’m not supposed to be even riding yet lol.

@ThatsGinterEVАй бұрын
Thx! The low light is shot with the Sony a6700 and a 15mm f1.4 prime lens to let in as much light as possible. Either 4k 120fps for slow mo, or 4k 30fps, @ 1/60 shutter (to match other cameras) and Sony's standard color profile with light color grading in Davinci Resolve. So, no log, but that camera is in the highest quality mode and can shoot 10bit, so I have a more color data to work with in post. 🤓
