The albums they made between 79 and 83 were great. Powerfull. A waste and totally unecessary to made crap like alive and kicking. They became a total different band.
@ricardoroberto70545 ай бұрын
They tried to become U2 for some godforsaken reason. Empires and Dance is still brilliant.

The bono-fication of pastor Kerr started early on it seems , i always thought the instrumental side was great but Kerr really had a Jesus complex.

kerr's voice was at that time very closed to a mix of alan vega and ian curtis after that he found his own style ..a great singer with fantastic musicians this line up for me was at his best in this period especialy sons and fascination and sisiter feeling call. lp's...

Whaaaat....the voice of Ian Curtis is never matched by anyone.... Jim was initially very much influenced by Brian Ferry....he mimics the style even.

This illustrates PERFECTLY what I love about live music. A band has a great song, but played live it’s elevated to a whole new level. This song starts off with such head turning energy I’m instantly drawn in. But then that was so many bands at that time. And I completely agree with the person posted this video. That this was when Simple Minds were a force in music. As opposed to the Jim Kerr show they became. They lost their driven to win harder edge that they started with. Which was true of many to me. Such as Echo & The Bunnymen, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Cure … they all got happy. And it sucked for their music. Didn’t keep me from going to see them live, but their early music as well as shows were the sh&t!

The first 30 seconds of this song are what make it for me; brilliant intro that builds u to vocals and by then the hairs on my arms / neck are standing up ! This is proper Simple minds, not pop music.
