I just made a gutter downspout extension look like a piece of drift wood by roughing it up even more. (using a drill to make knotholes etc.) I scorched it with a torch (in a well ventilated area) to get the color but it seems like the stain would give you more color options. Any idea if the stain provides any uv protection for the pvc or how long it holds up?

i do wonder if shredding the paper increases the burn time or heat, as the shredder paper has more air pockets which gives the fire more oxygen to burn hotter. I also wonder if its better to just burn cardboard or just burn paper. i hear cardboard gives a lot of ash compared to paper.

Always check an electric fence with the back of your hand. Do not grab it as is demonstrated in this video. This is because grabbing the fence while its electrified might make your hand spasm and not let go once it finally shocks you. At least that's what my Dad always told me. haha

Paper has a lot of additives, dyes and so on, which are less flammable than paper itself; they slow down paper combustion rate. I think a solvent wash before paper treatment remove those additives.

Do you still have this set-up in your shop/home? I am in the process of building one for our emergency shelter; I like the horizontal storage design but I'm afraid that the plastic barrels might lack the integrity to hold that kind of weight long-term (I read on another site about a plastic drum buckling under its own weight). Would you mind giving me an update? Did it work out (long term)? Thanks in advance!

If you have a well wouldn’t it be easier to just grab a power station and some solar panels? Jealous as where we are at we don’t have access to a well.

So if I understand correctly, the motor demultiplication /gear ratio is irrelevant here? The tracker will align to the sun regardless of gear ratio, right?

You are doing way too much work. Why not wet them to soften them, and then roll 'em up tight into a log? Also, instead of lighting fluid, I dipped a small piece of paper into used vegetable oil and threw it into my barbecue (I used tree branches and kindling of course.) It worked like a charm the first time, and is probably healthier. Now if I could get the temp up to 2345 F., I could "bake" my clay creations without having to buy a kiln. Any ideas? I also like Michael Crumpton's idea below.

Great video thanks! But how about simply burning paper without mashing and bricking? I know that loose paper may burn quicker than a compressed paper log so need refueling often, but would one get the same total heat out of it? Would particulate emissions be higher?

To make fire starters, I've been stuffing empty toilet paper rolls full of shredded cardboard and waste paper and dipping them in parafin to give them more of a controlled burn. But I ran into a problem with the molded cardboard packing forms - no way to get those through a shredder. So I've been looking for other ways to process them. I love the simple techniques you found to do this. Problem solved!

This panel can put out close to 100 watts kzbin.infoUgkxOqI2yqX0XVrhR2BMJciTWrHJpG8FhJyg when positioned in the appropriate southernly direction, tilted to the optimal angle for your latitude/date, and connected to a higher capacity device than a 500. The built in kickstand angle is a fixed at 50 degrees. Up to 20% more power can be output by selecting the actual date and latitude optimal angle. The 500 will only input 3.5A maximum at 18 volts for 63 watts. Some of the excess power from the panel can be fed into a USB battery bank, charged directly from the panel while also charging a 500. This will allow you to harvest as much as 63 + 15 = 78 watts. If this panel is used to charge a larger device, such as the power station, then its full output potential can be realized.

It is possible to breakdoen paper ash and sift it into powder and use as a light drawing powder. Mixing it withwood charcoal powder will màke it darker.

How do you wire the 110v cabinet egg turner motor to the IncuStat Advance? The motor I received from Incubator warehouse has 3 wires Black, red, and yellow. The Incustat only has 2 wires for a motor? Your website says they are compatible.

The thermostat I received locks up at 99.5 and overheats until unplugged. Caught it at 120 when the thermostat read 99.5. When this failure occurs it continues to supply 120v to the heater causing it to overheat until you catch it
