my 35hp seems wired up fine but wont stop on the key? black yellow wire is useless. Does that mean the power pack is buggered?

I had a 1966 SkiFlite with a 50 hp MERC. A great boat. Wish I still had it. You are correct, don't ever get rid of it.

Hi Dario - Sorry, no vid on an impeller change. I have 2 of these 35's and have changed the impellers several times over the years ( every 2 years ) & isn't hard at all. best thing to do is get a manual & follow it step by step. Did this when I did my 1st one.

Those are great motors. Pretty good speed those Glasstrons are not lightweights.

OMC went Bankrupt in 1999. Engine quality went to pot and their FI system were junk. BRP is now trying to pawn these relics and trying to keep up with Yamaha & MERCURY.

hey i just got a 1978 evinrude 140hp and the wiring has been butchered, i no the basics behind it , but still having problems. so im looking for help like a wiring diagram, or the starting circuit or anything else that i can find .So if anyone can help, id be very grateful cheers

this model Evinrude does not have a peehole. It has an audible alarm inside the speed control where the pilot sits, whose sensor is inside the engine head. If it were getting no cooling water this alarm would be screaming.

do these engines have a good power to weight ratio? I have the exact same engine.

That's a solid engine. Looks like you have a great setup for fishing. I get 24mph with my 20 hp 1989 johnson pushing a 15 foot aluminum. With the carb upgrade to a 35 hp im getting 32 mph

yup - you should get some out of the holes on the top of the tower - sounds like time for a new impeller

that would be sweet ans unique to have twin 35's... I have a '82 model johnson 75 horse 3 cylinder. Those old OMC outboards are some beaters... can't kill 'em :)

This outboard doesn't have a tell-tale pee stream - water exits through the prop and it was pumping water fine. Before any of my outboards get sold - they are completely gone through so the next owner won't have to worry .............
