1969 Glastron V142 & 1980 Johnson 35 hp on Lake Erie PT 1

Just thought Id make a vid of this boat / motor performing. This was taken on 5/21/09 after a day of yellow perch fishing on Lake Erie, outside of Conneaut Harbor, Ohio. Last time I checked, I was getting around 24 mph on the GPS. I love this classic Glastron & have owned and used it for nearly 20 years!

That's a solid engine. Looks like you have a great setup for fishing. I get 24mph with my 20 hp 1989 johnson pushing a 15 foot aluminum. With the carb upgrade to a 35 hp im getting 32 mph

Thanks - The rod holders are mounted on a 1X6 and are 1 1/4" PVC. I drilled the holes for the screws all the way through & then drilled a bigger hole on the outside to accommodate the screw head and driver bit - worked great & haven't had one rod "pop" out yet. On a previous one I had built - I had rod holders @ 45 degrees on the ends for trolling. I'd like to see yours when it's done......

Those are great motors. Pretty good speed those Glasstrons are not lightweights.

Damn, sounds so much like our 28 spl pos motor, at idle. My Johnson wont rev up in gear. I have a vid of it if you want to see it. But, I still think OMC made the best! And BRP does now.

OMC went Bankrupt in 1999. Engine quality went to pot and their FI system were junk. BRP is now trying to pawn these relics and trying to keep up with Yamaha & MERCURY.
