I was fortunate to drive this earlier 2024. I took US 25 a lot to see the difference between driving on the Interstate vs old U.S. highway. What a feat of engineering.

I remember when I drove there in 2014 to the Mexican restaurant on high Street that got sold in 2015. It used to be a really bad and sketchy part of town you’ll see drug use homeless people everywhere trash needles, rundown areas abandoned factories, police driving everywhere.luckily after 2020 they really cleaned that city up

Now it's a nice highway through beautiful country but in the 1960s it was very different. 2 Lane road hugging the hill sides, slow trucks and old 35 came into downtown Jackson onto cobblestone streets. The traffic lights were only red and green - no yellow. Thanks for the memories.

Marietta is a great town if you are settled and have a family. There isn't much to do there socially for young people unless they are attending Marietta College which was quite laid back in the early 90s when I lived there. I worked at Ohio Power Company when it was still operating in the early 90s, and the commute to and from Beverly, Ohio each day to work at the power plant was a bit much from Marietta, especially when called out to work in the middle of the night. Marietta was the only medium sized town close enough to work and descent enough in size to hold any interest. Use to drive to Parkersburg, WV occasionally. Terrible what Dupont did to the Parkersburg area drinking water systems.

The slowpoke on the old US 35 was Exhibit A for why most people drive on the US 35 freeway instead.

I distinctly having early memories of the opening credits of the show One Day at a Time (set in Indianapolis) having directions on a freeway sign with Columbus. Now it's most likely Dayton would be on it.

To be honest, they should look into rerouting I-70 onto what is now I-470 and make the existing I-70 (including the short stretch of "Super-2") Business Loop I-70.

Nice flashback. The town in 2023 has really transformed from industry to quait. Note: Hamilton once, maybe still does, hold the nation's highest population of any city that did not have direct access to an interstate exit

I miss going on I-77. Used to go up from Southeast Ohio out of Marietta up to Akron very often when I was younger. But as I got into high school in the late 90s, my mom found out she could take State Rt 13 all the way to 93 into Zanesville, take 70 East and then get to I-77. I do miss those drives. But now, I can watch them here! Big fan of highway videos. Thank you so much!

As far as I know, the crane at 2:10 still flies the American Flag today. Even 10 years later in 2022. I haven't been by it in awhile, a good year or so, but last I saw it still was.
