I believe I-24 sits at a slightly lower elevation than that school. When everybody got stuck on the flooded freeway (including an old friend of mine), they abandoned their cars pretty quickly and got out of the area since I believe there was only one foot of water at that time. It was only after the water got higher that the trailer was washed away. The only real evidence that it even happened was a nearby TDOT freeway camera that didn't lose power until much later, if at all.

2:50 to 3:15 rolling thru Nashville's east bank....known to residents as East Nashville!

@FreewayAndrew - Most did abandon to safety. Tragically, at least one person drowned though. Fortunately it was on a Saturday when traffic volumes were quite a bit lower.

@Bryant5493 Thanks, the next video will be scenic without any traffic jams, also the 100th video I've made.

During the Great Nashville Flood of May 1-2, 2010, the stretch of I-24 at the beginning of your video (in the Mill Creek valley) was under several feet of water, and had one or two portable classroom trailers from a nearby private school floating down the highway hitting all of the cars and trucks that were stuck in the eastbound lanes.

this is an oddly beautiful drive in the AM when you see the sun on the mini skyline

They really make their roads in Nashville like good. I wish they would make the roads in Cincinnati, Ohio, where I live, look atleast decent.

@wriddle082 And that makes me wonder how the victims were able to survive when they were stuck. Did they abandon their cars or anything?
