A similar way to achieve this, at least for those who normally use 120 volt AC heating appliances is to wire four 60-cell solar panels in series to make a 120 volt DC supply. These cost $99 each for 400 Watt panels at Sulfur Springs, Texas USA. Four will set you back $396 USD, including tariffs and will provide 1,600 Watts under ideal conditions. Three 72-cell panels is close enough to 120 volts DC. Then buy an off-the-shelf hot plate or a toaster oven for cooking. When you're not cooking, divert the power to an electric resistance water heater. All the switches MUST be protected by a resistor-capacitor snubber. Bonus! Small switchmode power supplies (phone charger, laptop, etc. will run on 100- 240 volts DC. NO inverter needed. Brush-type motors (vacuum cleaner, Skil-saw, chain saw) also run on DC.

To avoid fumes from the paint, why not use an oven liner sheet as the black base? It's food grade, so no toxic materials and it can withstand high temperatures.
