I am under the impression that you’re organically farming. My question is when you held up one bag it said 40% crude protein, if I read it correctly. If so, what is that protein added to the feed made of? I’m just wondering if it’s an animal byproduct? Curious ! Watching from Panama City Florida,USA. 🇺🇸🦅 !

Good morning. People ask me all the time, “why I still hand pick my corn when you have a picker”. 1. I love doing it. 2. The old picker is getting harder and harder to get parts for 3. by hand I can inspect every ear for mold in the field before cribbing and grinding. Mold is commonly found in machine harvested corn. Mold causes reproductive issues and low birth rates especially in pigs. 4. By grinding the whole ear adds bulk and high fiber to my hog and goat feed. High fiber, High carbs and lots of protein is how I put the weight back on my does and sows and how I carry all my breeding and potential breeding livestock through the winter into the spring. 4. The added bulk from the husk and cob also stretches my feed cost 5. Knowing what your animals eat is knowing what you eat. 6. I love doing it (or did I say that already). 😂😂😂. Kudos to adding alfalfa to your mix. That’s a great way to add protein to your mix naturally. 👍🏽

I really enjoyed the video ! How many acres of corn do you think you would need for silage and seed to cover all your needs if land wasn't an issue ? I know you need more than what your planting out . Thanks for sharing and have a great day !
@McGieHomesteadAdventures10 сағат бұрын
If I could get 150 bushels of shelled corn per acre, I’d need roughly 4 more acres.

Great video. Loving how you and the fellas work together and get task at hand completed. I would love to find a decent sized hammer mill as the one y’all have, decent priced, could need complete rebuilding. Not too many things I can’t rebuild.
