As ever, this is a perfect upload with no bumps or 'blips'. The sound, considering the source, is very good but there is a slight fading towards the end of Act 1. The balance between the pit and stage is well caught. Once again, many thanks for uploading this important sound document. Dave and Barry - if you remember us.

I was not even aware that Krips recorded any Wagner... wonderful conductor with way too few recordings

I am beginning to get very fond of this recording - I am used to Krips pointing out inner voices in Beethoven symphonies (for example), but here it seems that he has put a lot of focus on articulation - especially with the choir. Phrasing, accents, build ups... everything.

I was at this October 2000 performance. I had gotten married the day before - in a small stone chapel in the Wienerwald/Vienna Woods. We attended this performance with the friend who served as Best Man. Also, with us: a member of the Furtwängler family. Since then, Maestro Bychov has held a special place in our hearts. And, when we are asked what our Special Song is, we say it is four hours long - and we listened to it at the Staatsoper the day after our marriage. Thank you for providing this very special link! Best wishes from Vermont 🍁

Poops. So sorry. I though this was the 62 to which I was referring
As ever - a perfect upload. There is a strange bit of interloping from another source in Act 1 as we suddenly hear a speaking voice. For an 'in house', this recording is quite good. There is little audience sound and the balance between stage and pit is perfectly acceptable. Towards the end of the opera, there is slight deterioration of sound but nothing too much. Many thanks for uploading this.

Ah, Violeta Urmana. She is one of my favorite glorified dramatic sopranos to hit the high C in Perigliarti Ancor Languente. Yes, I know she began as a mezzo continued as a soprano, and returned to mezzo. However, the timbre of her voice was borderline soprano.

The actual upload is perfect but, as a warning, there is a huge sound dip in Act 1 Scene 1. I can only assume that the microphone managed to get covered with something. Having said that, stick with it for the sound is better thereafter. This is a performance well worth the listening. Many thanks for the posting.

Another fine upload. For an 'in house' recording this is perfectly acceptable sound. The audience noise is at a minimum and the balance between the stage and pit is surprisingly good. The are a few minor 'blips' in the sound but nothing to disturb your enjoyment. Many thanks for posting this.
