Thanks to Helmut C.Fischer What a great performance with two of the ideal interpretations of the past Elisabeth Grümmer and Josef Greindl and KRIPS

I never expected to hear the complete Krips Meistersinger, and here it is!

As ever, this is a perfect upload with no bumps or 'blips'. The sound, considering the source, is very good but there is a slight fading towards the end of Act 1. The balance between the pit and stage is well caught. Once again, many thanks for uploading this important sound document. Dave and Barry - if you remember us.

Wow, how did they manage to perform first with Knappertsbusch, then with Krips (later: Schippers)? This performance is much better than Knappertsbusch's "Free Style" / Laissez-faire !!!
I was not even aware that Krips recorded any Wagner... wonderful conductor with way too few recordings

I am beginning to get very fond of this recording - I am used to Krips pointing out inner voices in Beethoven symphonies (for example), but here it seems that he has put a lot of focus on articulation - especially with the choir. Phrasing, accents, build ups... everything.

A good version of the Cluytens performance with Hans Hotter (Sachs) would be nice ...

@@hcleskov-fischer6033 You mean the recording doesn't exist or that there is no good version ? I think there is a CD-recording... very bad quality...

@erstenorn the master tapes were destroyed and there's no really satisfactory version. However, I have improved on the terrible CD release: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4KbXoCbmreEg9ksi=63S_fIHF9Pjaaz-z
