Is relaxation a pre-requisite for crystallization? I think it should be because of the increasing density, but could you please confirm/explain? Great videos, Dr. Gaisford!
@PharmaDrama3 күн бұрын
Thank you for your question :) I think the answer is yes, only because relaxation means the movement of molecules, and crystallisation requires the movement of molecules - hence they must go together.

Great explanation. But i would like to know why nicotine and cocain are called drugs, thank you 🙏🏽
@PharmaDrama7 күн бұрын
Thank you for your kind words. Nicotine and cocaine are both called drugs because they are the chemical species that elicit a response in the body. If formulated they would be medicines. I think the confusion is that some drugs are subject to legal restrictions; for instance, controlled drugs, such as morphine, or illegal drugs such as cocaine. But to the general public the word 'drug' is often used only for illegal substances.

if the solubility of the stable form is below industry standard, what to choose for formulation ? if you choose a metastable form, it might transition into a stable form with time. What is the best practice ?
@PharmaDrama18 күн бұрын
Yes, that is a tricky question. I guess the answer depends on whether you get enough bioavailability for your active. If not then a metastable form is an option but I think most companies would go with the stable form and use an alternative solubilisation strategy (eg milling, salt formation or mixing in an amorphous polymer).

Late question and not sure if you'd know the answer but I've looked everywhere, if I don't already have a digital head unit can I still buy one of these kits or is there more to it? I have a 2017 hatch and the head unit is the one just before they went digital

Why do we multiply the fraction of unionized solute with partition coefficient to get the distribution coefficient? I don’t really get it, shouldn’t we multiply P with the ionized portion 🤔
