The morons that invent this stuff should be required to work as part of the "road side assistance" team before they design something...

@paulg7964 250 is offroad. Most tents are well below that. Once you get to your camping location, and set up the tent, the rack goes by the static rating. I've had a Thule Tepui Ruggedized Autana 3 in my rack. That's on the heavy side as tents go.

Does this have tiedowns on the cross bars for securing lumber or a ladder?
@ToddsTruckLifeАй бұрын
@@Epiphany311 you can get load stops for the load bars. The uprights have built-in tie-downs in the base.
@@ToddsTruckLife thank you! Have you seen one of these racks installed with a Ram 1500 with Ramboxes? Do you know if they work?
@ToddsTruckLifeАй бұрын
@Epiphany311 Sorry, it won't work with RamBoxes. The Elevate Rack is designed to transfer the weight of the load to the bed caps. RamBox beds don't really allow for that because their bed cap is a lid that has to open. But I will say that RamBoxes are a super cool innovation that allows you to reclaim relatively unused space around the wheel arches and repurpose it as a storage area. I've always liked RamBoxes, and all the similar solutions from GM, Nissan, and Toyota just seem like bad knock-offs to me.
@ToddsTruckLifeАй бұрын
@Epiphany311 So, I just found out that the installation of the Retrax covers has recently changed on the RamBox applications. They now attach a secondary rail to the RamBox's cargo rail, then clamp the Retrax rail to that. This allows them to use the XR rails, which have a t-slot that allow you to install the Elevate Rack to the rails on the cover.

Great video Sir! I would assume the load bars’ are standard size with the capability for width adjustment? Or are they specifically made for each vehicle when ordered/purchased? Thank you for sharing.
@ToddsTruckLifeАй бұрын
@LuisPerez-vy6bz Elevate is available in 2 formats: FS and CS. The load bars on the FS are longer for full-size trucks because the bed is wider. The CS is for mid-size and compact applications. The uprights are the same for FS and CS. T-Slot rails are specific to the length of the bed.

In fact, I've removed some of it to reconfigure the seal and it's a bit of work to remove. The key is in the prep. Make sure you clean the surface of the paint with rubbing alcohol. I use 91% isopropyl that you can get at the grocery store. That removes everything from the paint and the adhesive is designed to stick to automotive paint. Today, I was actually just thinking about making an updated video showing the reconfigured setup, so stay tuned!

Does this kind of step guard block access to the jack points?
@ToddsTruckLifeАй бұрын
@Combatpzman great question! I'll check it out and report back!
@ToddsTruckLifeАй бұрын
@Combatpzman so, I checked underneath, and if you want to lift from the pinch weld, there's not enough room to fit the factory scissor jack. That being said, I removed the factory jack almost immediately after I got my truck, and I now keep a small floor jack tucked behind the back seat. I find scissor jacks unstable, and you're limited to lifting at the pinch weld only. If I rease at the rear, I place my floor jack under the rear lower control arm, and for the front, I go to the subframe or LCA, depending on what I want to do. So I get the question, but it's not important if you're well equipped. Hope that's helpful!

@@ToddsTruckLife Thanks, I was just curious. I have the hybrid, so I don't think any of the steps work anyway.
@ToddsTruckLifeАй бұрын
@Combatpzman actually, some of the steps from Ionic and Steelcraft have special hardware for the passenger side, for if you have the hybrid. Those are more traditional steps, and they hang a little lower than these. They cost a bit less than mine, but they're also not nearly as stout, so they don't offer the same kind of protection. 🙂
@ToddsTruckLifeАй бұрын
Forgot to mention that my DSS Sliders don't attach to the same locations as most other steps out there. Mine attach at much stronger locations. I think it might even be strong enough to raise the vehicle by placing a jack on the bottom of my brackets, but I don't want to make that claim without checking the CAD on the truck to see if it would be strong enough, and safe jack locations. And yes, these are approved for installation on the hybrid.

That's a work in progress. The BakFlip rails were recently redesigned and will not work with the Elevate rails, but they are going to make a BakFlip rail with a built in t-slot, similar to the rail on the Revlover X4TS, that way it will work with the Elevate Rack without the need for the supplement t-slot rail. That product will most likely be unveiled at SEMA and my guess is that we'll see them start shipping around the end of the year.

@ToddsTruckLifeАй бұрын
@user-jj4bv9fc6n well, I energized them before I installed them on the brackets, and they project a perfect, wide rectangular pattern that you want in a function fog lamp. The spot beam shoots over the low fog beam, so it will work great as a long beam once I actually wire them up. I NEED to do that, but I've just been too busy with other things. I put it off because I also want to install my power distribution system instead of having a lone switch. Eventually, I'll get it done, and I'll make a video for that, too. 😉

@ToddsTruckLife4 ай бұрын
@papillon5537 warranty claims are only denied if the aftermarket parts or tune caused damage. I've had mine in for recalls, and my techs are cool with it. I always return to stock before any kind of service, then reinstall the tune when I get it back, because they usually flash the PCM for updates, and that will erase anything written and can create problems if you try to reinstall after that. Then you have to get the tuning company's service reps to help restore everything.

The Gator EFX hard tonneau cover works with the Elevate rack. I installed them both on my '22 Ram 2500. What I do not like is the lack of Molle panel options. Very limited. Also, anyone with a 1/2" socket wrench and set of Allen wrenches can dismantle this pretty easily and make off with parts or all of your rack. Other than that, a very sturdy, adjustable system..

How much static weight realistically do you think? I know at 751 lbs its not going to cave but between myself and the people i want to put in my RTT it might be close to or right at 750. 2nd part of the question, how easy does this work with a Tundra Factory tonneau?(Bakflip mx4)
@ToddsTruckLife6 ай бұрын
Weight ratings were established for a full-size truck model, at the tallest setting because the taller the uprights and further apart they are, the weaker the scenario. Static is 750 pounds. That's if you're parked at the campsite with all the people and gear in the tent. 500 pounds driving on the street and 250 bouncing down the trail. Unfortunately, with the way the rail attaches to the threaded Deck Rail holes on the Tundra, it can't accommodate a t-slot rail to be sandwiched between the bed cap and the cover's rail.
@isaynox6 ай бұрын
@@ToddsTruckLife Your saying it doesn't work with that tonneau on the trudra?
@ToddsTruckLife6 ай бұрын
@@isaynox if it's the older style design that clamps to the bed rail flange, then it would work as long as you have 1/8" between the frame of the cover and the inside of the rail. But the newer generation covers don't clamp the same, and the aluminum mounting brackets bolt directly into the threaded holes in the top of the bed. That design doesn't work with the t-slot rails.
