Love the explanation of the kit. You mention the truth of what a level/lift can do to the vehicle. I can not wait for a true lift for the maverick. This truck has so much more in it. It has been a hit since day one in stock form so far.

The standard FX4 with the Scorpions 225s actually have 8.3” of ground clearance. The Falken 235s are what give you the 8.6”. This lift looks great but I dislike the leveling aspect. I wish it was 2.5 front and 2.5 rear to maintain a rake.

You are absolutely correct with the tires/clearance point, I figured that out after I made the video. As far as the rake, I personally prefer the leveled look, but I'd definitely like the extra clearance off road. I'm actually thinking about bringing in the AirLift kit so I can raise the rear when I go off road, and obviously to have the load correction capabilities as well.

I believe the complaint from other folks has been the CV Boot leaks. Correct me if I’m wrong please. Will this kit prevent that? And yes please post the finished look!! 😊

The boot leak is from not smoothing the bottom of the shock with a grinder. I will be posting the finished product for sure!

They haven't started showing the symptoms yet, but there is a slight boot leak as so many of the 2022s had, so I need to take it in and have them replaced under warranty. I'm just so busy. LOL I have no idea when I'll have the time to schedule it.

Meh ... Articulation is over rated. My Jeep and the Hummer H1 both have an RTI around 360... They're both monsters ... Remember , the 3 tires that you DO have on the ground will have great traction because of independent suspension. Also, if the trail or obstacle doesn't require more articulation than you have , independent suspension will have BETTER traction than solid axle (tires being equal). Your electronics will compensate for the lack of articulation for the most part. Land Rover concluded this 20 years ago. I wish they would have thrown in a low range for the Maverick.

I kinda consider articulation to just be a part of the traction equation when on uneven terrain. But you're correct, articulation is only important on heavily undulated surfaces, independent suspension does a better job of keeping contact with the tires, and electronics completely change the game. I've actually never driven an H1, but 360 doesn't really surprise me with that since it's more about the low center and wide stance, from what I understand. The Jeep does surprise me with a low RTI like that. Now I'm just curious what score a Maverick would get on the ramp. LOL

@@ToddsTruckLife A Cherokee Trailhawk (what I have) will never hit the RTI that probably even a Wrangler Sport can hit WITH the swaybar connected. I think all Wranglers these days, especially rubicons are about 500+ RTI and I want to say the Rubicon 392 is 730 RTI. It matters for rock crawling, I haven't seen it matter much for trails as far as completes/ doesn't complete the obstacle. Watch this video (not my video) if you're curious about what can be done floating a tire like crazy on fully independent suspension. Amazing video by Grey Jedi. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYaYmJh4ZcmGf5Y . This is another good video by Colorado Mall crawlers. This is the absolute limit probably of what a lifted Maverick could do. This is basically the Cherokee Trailhawk limit. Amazing driving... I wouldn't want to do it! kzbin.info/www/bejne/noiYnYiKha2NgdU

@@off-roadingexplained8417 Ah, Cherokee definitely makes a lot more sense at 360. 😆 Those trails look like they were a ton of fun! It would be interesting to see if the Maverick could pull it off, but I would definitely want to fab some skid plates and sliders first. And I'd be wishing I had a low range button. LOL Probably not going to happen with this build anytime soon, I still care too much about the paint and body panels. 😉

Important question: I have the 2.5 inch lift for the maverick. You mentioned having to update the speedometer. How can I adjust the speedometer once I install the kit?

4:18 - Could you please explain how the preload spacers on the front struts prevent axle binding? The big problem with FWD lift kits is the increase in front (and sometimes rear) axle drop angle, the CV joints can't operate at those increased angles. The only REAL way (that I'm aware of) to prevent this is with a subframe drop. To me, it looks like this preload spacer is just putting more tension on the front spring and increasing stiffness, but it really shouldn't improve axle binding at all, unless there's some magic in the sauce. Could you elaborate?
@ToddsTruckLife
@ToddsTruckLife 2 жыл бұрын
Sure! Constant velocity axles are designed to flex without torque loss or increased wear, unlike a universal joint. You can increase the angle a decent amount before it becomes detrimental. The reason for the preload spacer instead of just a spacer on top of the strut, is so the strut doesn't reach a detrimental length at full extension. Yes, if all of the lift was from a top spacer, the axles would have a problem, particularly during suspension travel, and under torque load. The factory spring is actually really smooth, even with the preload. I'd imagine if there was any more preload, I'd begin to feel it in the ride. Superlift spent a pretty significant amount of R&D to get the balance of top and preload right. I know those guys and they're good at what they do. Let me know if you still have questions!

I've seen on other Mavs that have been lifted the kit ends up pushing the rear wheels forwards a bit in the wheel wells, does this kit avoid that or is just something that you are going to have to live with in order to get the added ride height?
@davidshelton5911
@davidshelton5911 2 жыл бұрын
I would also like to know if this kit fixes that issue. I’ve read (and seen on my own Mav) that the wheels are slightly forward from factory and a lift kit just exaggerates the position a bit more, to the point to where it’s noticeable.
@ToddsRealm
@ToddsRealm 2 жыл бұрын
With the Maverick, you have a rear trailing arm that extends from the subframe at the rear of the cab, to the knuckle at the rear axle. When the rear tires move up and down, they create a radius, so the lower they go, they move the rear tire slightly forward at the same time. This kit also lowers the rear trailing arm a little more than an inch, so it reduces how far forward the rear tire will travel, but it doesn't eliminate all of it. Larger tires will also accentuate that effect. When the wheels and tires are on, I'll make another video, but you'll see pics quicker if you follow my @toddstrucklife on Instagram. 😉

Do the preload and spring spacers require you to decompress and remove the spring for install?
@ToddsRealm
@ToddsRealm 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. If you plan to get any more than about an inch of lift on the front of a Maverick, you need a preload spacer, otherwise you will shorten the life of factory components like axles, especially if you go off road.

Why not just buy a ranger

1. I like the Maverick. 2. I mod trucks, period. If I had a Ranger, I'd put a bunch of mods on that, and then you'd ask why I didn't just buy a F150. 😉
