It’s a pretty important thing to think about, isn’t it?

Buddy is so sweet, and he will not do anything if you are not found quickly. Cats will treat you as noms, dogs wont do that. I pray you don’t need to find this out for decades.

The scene of you walking off into the sunset dressed all in black, was symbolism very well done. Then Buddy scurrying after you in white, full of life, was cool. The gift from your mom was amazing, too.

Everyone should bear in mind that different tech solutions have different reliability levels and different features. For instance, by Phyllis sharing her Google location with me, it only shows where she currently is, or "recently" if her phone is out of range or off. It doesn't show everywhere she's been over time, or where she was 4 days ago. So, our system of twice per week check-ins, has an element of luck as to whether her phone is powered up, tracking location, and in coverage for up to 4 days after any untimely demise. With GPS location on, most phone batteries don't last 4 days. So, it is smart to keep the phone plugged into a power bank or power station when driving, sleeping, or not feeling well. When on the move, it might be smart to check in more often, or give an itinerary/route. I don't routinely check her location, but when I do, sometimes she is right where she was last time, sometimes she is 500 miles away from where I would have guessed, and sometimes it doesn't show a location at all. If the phone battery had run out, we'd be at square one. With Phyllis alive and kicking, she, like the rest of us, normally keeps her phone charged, which might not be true after passing. So, the fact that I can see a location 80-90% of the time now, might not be representative of how often I'd see it 2, 3, or 4 days after she is gone, when I first realize something is wrong. Probably there are tracking/stalking "where's my child" apps to check and save the location periodically, which could show last known location, time/date, etc. What I do myself when traveling, is use a Garmin InReach Mini, and have it text my location via satellite to my kids every time I power it off and on, or if I manually text them from it. That was on a plan with 20 free texts per month, and a free location message every time you powered it on. We do that because I hike in remote, dangerous places with no cell service, dozens of miles from pavement, in a car with no spare tire. If I paid for a much more expensive monthly plan, it could instead let them see my location every few minutes, and keep my entire track history available to them. Garmin recently changed all the plan offerings a lot, and I've not had service turned on since then, but will have to sort out what to do under their new scheme. The tech changes often, and there are many choices. But it's better to have tech and a person or two watching out for you, than not.

First time viewer here, I just caught you with Rick and Linda. Been watching them for years. My first furbaby's name was Buddy. He was kinda one in a million, and he could talk. I now have Snoopy and Leo, and am trying to get on the road. I'm living in an 8x16 converted cargo trailer, but have a ways to go before it's roadworthy. ATM am healing a broken leg from falling off a ladder installing solar panels.
