Have you considered the strategic advantage to China if NK joins China when they make their move. Such a scenario would compound US, Japanese, Taiwan, and Philippines challenges. Especially if the US is drawn in to a conflict in Europe or Middle East. It should almost be assumed. Imagine: China runs drills as close to Taiwan as possible, during which phone/data cables are cut, meanwhile the US is hit with a massive cyber attack by China and NK, and NK launches missile attack on Japan and US bases along with ground invasion of SK . Then China's invasion would begin.
