Some really beautiful shots! Loved the video! I am lucky that I did the same hike days after you and you gave me the best advice. It helped so much. My group also spent the second night at Sulphur Springs which was the best choice and filled up with lots of water for the long dry day three, all thanks to your advice! It is crazy seeing the hike through your eyes, I love it! It was like really crazy seeing you guys film the same shots that I did! I recognised them from my footage. Tried to keep this comment a reasonable length but I have so much to say… even had to hold back!

Looks like you strung a whole lot of videos together especially as you forgot to check the number of sightings which went up and down a few times.

My mistake. I presume the number was for that day. We h as be been to the park many Times and some days you see hardly anything so your days seemed a bit too 😢good!

Hi! Yea it is a stitched video to just have a long video of all the episodes. We only count vertebrates that we know the name. So generally mammals, birds and some reptiles.

Great video! Look at the ear coverts of Striped Swallows to easily ID them. Lesser has brown coverts and Greater has white coverts. This is shown clearly in the Roberts birding app.

Thanks for the info!
@dogsofthewind2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the tip! I will make good use of that tip for future identifications! I never knew the difference between lesser and greater, and mostly based my ID on a guess based on location, but the two have plenty of overlap so that wasn’t a very good method!
@lindsayward71422 ай бұрын
@@dogsofthewindso it looks like those were greater striped swallows actually. The shot isn’t great, but it does look like the rufous colouring is not over the ear coverts.

Piease no music. Please use bird and nature sounds.
@dogsofthewind2 ай бұрын
Ah, if only! We try to include as much bird sound as possible, but sadly most of what we capture is wind in the microphone, the sound of the camera’s autofocus computer working, or car engine sounds or us talking nonsense in the car. We managed to get a surprisingly large amount of bird sounds in this video as in the north, it is quiet and we can switch off our engine and plug in the microphone, but we certainly don’t have good sound equipment, unfortunately. Hopefully the music provides some ambience to the footage. We do always try to capture what we can though. Our next investment will be a better microphone, as my audio-enlightened friend says our audio is pretty terrible! 🤣

Great video! One request - can you introduce a lag before displaying the name of the birds? I am trying to find vids to use to teach my kid to identify KP birds and he thinks it is pretty funny if he can just read the answer instead of working it out for himself! The lag just needs to be long enough to pause the vid.

Although there certainly is blood in the afterbirth, there are additional hormonal scents in afterbirth that indicate a new birth, which means an easy meal rather than just an injurred individual. The stronger the scent, the fresher it is, indicating a very new birth of a calf.Great video in total folks. Thanks.
