Yep, sleeping becomes an issue as the years rack up. On my phone, your Eyecandy looks like antique gold, not unlike a rubbing paste. I really like that color. The soap dish itself would also serve wwell as a deep 3-D frame. You could ggo a little nuts embellishing it.👍

Oh boy do I have observations! Starting with the texture along the 1" edge; love it. On my phone it looks frosted, or like a green velet ribbon, floating frame. Straight on, it virtually disappears. The Starry-whatever was just enough to hint at an evergreen. You probably have read enough of my comments to know I would have put less volume of trinkets in, but am cheering the variety. All in all, it's a success. I would put one thin taper behind it & call it done.👏😊

thanks for your comment - the glass pieces etc that I included was to help me know what would work best in the future. I did add more than I expected, but it looks pretty cool in person. I am going to have to do some sanding of the sides to remove any sharp pieces, then I will decide what next, if anything I do.

I get a great deal of enjoyment out of watching your videos… and usually am watching between 2.00-4.00am! Like you, I go to bed very early… and, although it is just hubby & I in our house, I love the peacefulness of the early hours… hubby is sleeping, which means our fur bay is still sleeping… my phone doesn’t make any demanding noises… serenity!! 😂 Both Xmas trees are awesome! The water trick works because of the metric system; 1g water=1mL=1cc(cubic cm). That will give you the volume of the mold. If you’re using resin mixed by weight, you’d have to figure out what that translates to in volume. A lot of manufacturers will have a resin calculator on their website, which makes things much easier. I’ll normally add at least 5-10ml extra to whatever volume I need to compensate for what remnants get left in the cup.
@nmbbeingintentionallycreative14 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for explaining, I will have to do some more research into the resin calculators and the difference between volume and weight, and I appreciate the tip about the extra resin.

I love your tea light boots… I really like the uniqueness you bring to your pieces!! I think it’d look neat with the gold chrome marker around that part at the bottom, like you said… and then around the top of the circle, where the tea light sits?? Also, with the little gold n white ornament, that came from a matte mould… you could always spray it with a couple of coats of clear, high gloss varnish… depending on what it is you’re doing… I find this quicker and easier than epoxy?! I totally agree with you re pouring resin from up high… this certainly works with liquid silicone (which is where I believe the theory came from)… but, in my opinion, it does not help reduce bubbles in resin… it actually does quite the opposite, well it does for me anyway! I pour my resin down low, slowly… and, if pouring a deep mould, I let the resin flow onto a flat silicone stick and allow it to slowly run down into the mould. I’ve done a few pieces where I encase a dandelion in clear resin… and this method works really well for these. Lotsa Luv, Nat. ♥️♥️🇦🇺

A wizard taps the holographic into the mold with his wand. 😆 I googled it to learn how the holographic effect gets in the mold. The particles in the plaster are too large to pick up the super ultra fine holographic.Try mold release instead of alcohol to spray molds.

Hello!
@bethyholapussycat161824 күн бұрын
The holographic effect is actually the way a pattern is etched, (extremely fine engraving) on an object, and the silicone picks it up when a mould is made, which in turn is reflected on the material poured into the mould. Some materials pick up this fine etching, some don't. (Eco pours are generally made up of particles that are too big to go down into the etching, so show less or not at all).

That’s weird I have been playing with same Mold t tink clear epoxy site best to show off holographic I know that the resin has to touch the holographic for it to work with polyurethane bottles I have at mo new type was literally less than 30 seconds it cured as I was pouring today
@nmbbeingintentionallycreative24 күн бұрын
polyurethane is definitely an interesting product to work with.
@mattersofthehartbynat881524 күн бұрын
I’ve not used polyurethane resin yet… but yes, I’ve only ever heard that you have just 30 seconds to mix… and 2 minutes pot life… it’d be nice if you have longer… but, having said that, I’ve never seen anyone mix for 30 seconds… pour… and have it not cure properly! So maybe 30 is enough? 🤷♀️ Talking about the holographic transfers… I don’t know how it works… but I’ve made a holographic silicone mould, using a refraction sheet… and it worked a treat!! And it was a fun experiment… maybe something you could try on video?? We can see the holographic effect, when you turn them side to side… better on some than others… but it gives us a good idea of what we’d get when doing it ourselves… and… you move it slow enough for us to get a good look… so thanks so much for that!! I’d be wary of spraying alcohol into the holographic mould before the resin…I don’t know for sure, but I’d reckon it may damage the mould?? Much like not spraying hand made moulds or crystal moulds!?! Well… epoxy is the clear winner here!! And the translucent red tree is just stunning… definitely my favourite of the bunch! I really enjoyed this video, and sharing the experiment with you… you are very easy to listen to… clear and to the point, without sounding cold. So, once again, thank you… I really appreciate you Natalie! Much love from Nat. (Brisbane, Australia) ♥️♥️🇦🇺

I agree, translucent is the nicest & richest. I'm not a polyurathane user. However, I was pretty sure the casting compound wouldn't render the holograph. I can't say why except if the design isn't engraved or embossed, the casting compounds don't pick it up. That red is yummy👍
@nmbbeingintentionallycreative24 күн бұрын
It was a fun experiment. At least I now know for future not to use the mix2mold in this piece, and I agree the red translucent piece turned out really well.
@bhronnyhill935421 күн бұрын
It's the finish. From what I’ve seen, holographics tend to work best with very smooth, glossy finish products. Ceramic resins tend to have either a matte or satin finish.
