Beach looked really nice. I didn’t see much sargassum. Is this a good time of the year for seaweed feee Beaches?
@kahunawithak3342 жыл бұрын
Yes, the winter months are the best times because the water temps are cooler which tends to leave the beaches free of seaweed. Summer months the seaweed returns.

Hello friend, my Grandma loves your videos and was hoping to ask you a couple questions on travelling to Mexico. She's wondering where you stayed around Feb 3rd when you were in Mexico as well as how you go about getting in contact with people for local airbnb rates or apartments. She's looking to stay anywhere from 1 week to 1 month at first and eventually stay for about 6 months. The problem is we don't know where to look online to get good and real rates. She wants the local experience instead of any type of resort and that's where we are having trouble.
@kahunawithak3342 жыл бұрын
The best way that I've found places to stay is to book your first week at any Airbnb. Walk around the area she wants to stay during that week. I stay in Centro on 6th street between 20 and 25th Avenue and there are rental signs all over. They typically have their telephone number on the signs. Call them to make appointment to view the rooms available. Simple and easiest way to find a decent apartment in playa.

Can you recommend a hotel there? Can you suggest a cenote to go swimming at? Are there a lot of mosquitoes in February? (I’m allergic) is there one thing you suggest we do (no kids)? Thank you
@kahunawithak3342 жыл бұрын
So many choices in hotels on Playa but I always recommend to my friends "The Fives" downtown which is a more upscale hotel only one block from 5th Avenue and two blocks from the beach. Another place is called hotel Mimi del Mar located directly on the beach between 2nd and 4th street. My favorite cenote is cenote Azul. Typically not super busy but one of the local favorites. It's hard to say if there are many mosquitoes since it depends on temperature and humidity but almost all cenotes require you to rinse off prior to getting into the cenotes so mosquito repellent would do no good if you're going to visit a cenote. I would suggest doing a overnight stay in a small town about two hours away called Valladolid. It's a great break from playa and has that small and authentic Mexican town feel.

would you say PDC is crowded and busy?
@kahunawithak3343 жыл бұрын
From November to April it does get pretty crowded but not like Cancun. The beauty of Playa is that if you don't want the crowds, there are many beaches here that will offer you that if you are willingto explore. 5th Avenue is crowded during November through April, then it goes into the slow season and is super pleasant. PDC is growing at an incredible rate and I believe it's the fastest growing city within the Yucatan peninsula. I've been coming here for years and for several months at a time and I have seen the changes, some for the worse and some for the better. If you're looking for how "old" Playa used to be, I suggest visiting Puerto Morelos. More laid back and a sleepy little town by the sea.

@@kahunawithak334 It was October of 87 when I first found the unique Carribean hideaway of Playa. I have returned over 20 times since and wanted to retire there. Now at 57 I'm ready to go but the Playa dream along with the charming polished from time cobblestone streets is gone... I see the Victoria Secrets, Forever 21, star bucks and 7-11's and it is the opposite of what Playa once offered for us lucky ones that knew it before it was turned into the Vegas time-share hassle meca- The Sargasum is the least of what stinks up this once magical spot. I want a time machine for every aspect of my life. I would head right back to 1987.

Question for you, to see if you know... we are planning a trip down there in December. Do you know if the seaweed is still as bad then? Thanks for posting this video sir, appreciate it.
@kahunawithak3343 жыл бұрын
The seaweed typically is gone or is less once the water temps start cooling down. I've been coming to Playa since 1989 and during the "winter" months, the water is super clear and the seaweed is less or totally gone. Hope that helps out. It's really difficult to predict since the weather tends to change quite a bit in this region.
