as a motorhome dealer who hasn't looked in the guide fir motorhomes if they even still have one fir 15 years uts about time the caravan trade followed suit, its an archaic system and only sort of worked fir caravans as there are so few variations and the trade weirdly stuck to it so closely . Not overly hard to use hiur brain to work out where things should stand and as with motoehomes some will be worth more to one dealer than another

For the benefit of any Newbies with a flushing issue. 1) This video only relates to toilets with a separate flush tank. Toilets which use the main water pump to flush with water from the main water tank are very different. 2) The common cause of the impeller getting jammed is black flakes forming in the flush tank. The major cause of black flakes is leaving the flush tank standing with a solution of pink fluid in when not in use. a) Drain the flush tank at the end of each break; b) If it will be unused over winter, flush the flush tank with plain water before draining.

Hi Mark, after i have pressurised my system up my pump seems to come on on its own accord sometimes during the night whilst sleeping. i have certainly no leaks just wondered if you had any other checks i could do ? great videos by the way.

I use the Adiseal range of products of sealant adhesives can even be used under water the clear is clear not opaque and it's really strong, check out the KZbin videos where it out performs all the competition and it not a bad price either.

Why didn't you just wind the Gemini to fit, instead of changing the wheel bolts. I use that lock and leave the recievers on the wheels and adjust the gemini. Much easier I think. Great informative video though

Our 2022 challenger x 835 had to have a new burner/valve fitted under warranty as it would not work on gas at all, no matter how many times I cycled the fridge it would not fire at all. Took 7 months for the part to come, then once fitted works like a good un now, great video guys 👍🏻👍🏻

Mark the last I heard was that Thetford recommend emptying the flush before traveling as it isn't a sealed unit

Alko locks usually give a discount on insurance if you have them, Caravan Club does anyhow. Think its 15% if you use them

Further - I think it is an EXCELLENT idea fir a dealer like yourself to go away in a caravan fir a break/holiday before putting it up for sale. In the case of 2nd hand vans there may be little issues or glitches that only become apparent ehen you have used everything in the van a few times (as you would, when going away in it). Then you will KNOW whether any work is required before sale.

I am guessing the initial difficulty with getting the fridge to work on gas was simply that, with being off for a while, you had a small air bubble in the pipe. Obviously turning on & off a few times and trying to get it lit on gas, after a couple of minutes or so, all will be OK.

This video is perfect for me we are picking up an upgrade van and the new one has the same control panel.

Our fridge did exactly the same thing (same make and model) 🤔. We are about to go away and noticed difficulty in connecting the water intake hose - diagnosis was the two seals on the connection had perished and we also need to replace the Power Touch Motor mover brush covers. There's always maintenance to do.... Learnt a lot of new things here. 👍👍

Happened to me, set off the CO2 monitor 0200 one night but took me the next visit to google and find out the battery had boiled Over!!! Superb video as very little info about the smell / foggy inside caravan

Hi Mark Regarding the Alde heater, As long as the glycol is full you can heat van with no water in boiler, Apparently hot water system gets hot from indirect contact with c/h hot glycol. Hope I made sense of this. All the same as always a great vid, mate ,Thanks. Enjoy your hols Regards Richard

You didn't mention the tyres to check the dates on them as even if they have plenty of tread they are illegal if over 5 years old

To check if the gas is working on the fridge, just put your hand over the upper fridge vent. If there is a flame you will feel warm air coming out of the vent, this also works with the ALDE heating on gas, you can feel the hot air on the inlet/exhaust vent. I also check the Smoke and CO2 alarms as though they do squeak to tell you the battery is going flat this will eventually run out and you may not of noticed.

I did something similar, and it was to secure items over the axal when travelling. Once explained when selling it, it makes sense. I do think there needs to be more anker points in vans that can blend in to help with travelling securely

when you are looking for leaks from the gas cylinder, use some fairy liquid with water mixed on joints, as a bubble forming disclosing fluid. As well as this, water leaks can develop any time with the caravan having so much movement and vibration. To accommodate for this, when I go to sleep or leave the caravan unattended, I always press the water pump button into the off position. That way you don't empty the full contents of your water hog into the caravan through a leak, when you are unaware.

it didnt fall off, the car driver is an idiot who did not put it on the towball correctly and didnt have the safety chain connected

Thanks, a lot of useful points, I will not be rushing out to buy one of those style of wheel locks, though!! Mainly as ours is a single axle!! 😃 but if it were a twin axle it looked like a bit of a faff!! Take care & all the best!!

Really useful video thanks. I found our Thetford flush wasn't working despite all the fuses being ok. Unpeeling the flush button sticker, extracting the pump and freeing up the impeller got it working, but wondered if there is a way of preventing that seizing up. The pink fluid doesn't seem to act as an inhibitor or softener. I'm thinking of putting it a few litres of white vinegar at the end of the season before draining. Wondered if you'd come across a better fix / preventative measure?

Hi Mark I noticed the middle down spot light was not working. One of ours was the same, I was told to put two flat head screw drivers in and pull down , I did this but it was glued in. What is the best way to change them?

Happened just 2days ago,partner coupled alone as have to move my car,all green signs moved and unhitched 300 yards away from the house.breakaway stoped the van good no one at the back of caravan. We were helped by openreach driver put back to the towbar and gone to nearby garage to recheck . Drove slowly to caravan supplies shop to replace the breakaway and jockey wheel as it bent.guy checked also said ok and drove 2hrs to the site.was scared till now and plan to stop caravaning.will do jockey check when going home..tnx

Looked at trading a 2021 van for another model a month or so ago. We have air con, movers and E and P fitted and the value was no different to a standard van, “ there is no value in extras, they just make a van easier to sell” was the response. Not sure where the Caravanning game is headed, no new ICE cars will mean older towing vehicles bing in extended use as adequate EV battery tech is still decades away, despite all the wild claims that have been made for many many years now, so towing heavy caravans or anything more than short distance trips will just be too much hassle. This is undoubtedly going to be a key factor affecting prices. Seems like our van and tow car will have to see us out of our caravanning ventures, not for a while yet though.

NoWait Untill the battery cools before you disconnect any of the battery terminals as a spark could inginte the sulfur. I've seen one explode , not a pretty sight. Once the battery is cool then remove battery leads.👍

We have the Eldis Xplore 474. It's a 2008, but it has a fixed bed, about the same size as this one, but it ticks all our boxes, and it is perfectly dry. Old, yes, we've had it 10 years, but not seen anything better to meet our needs, and it fits on the drive at home. We use it all year round, lovely and warm in Winter.

You don't want to make any sparks near the battery that smell hydrogen, which is explosive

If price comes down on trade in then prices will have to follow on new ones ,people will sell more privately on used and then go and get reduced prices on new because they won,t be selling dealers already wan,t to buy low and still sell high I will certainly keep mine if they do you can already see it this year on how long they are keeping in stock . Biggest piece of advice is take a reasonable profit or you will kill the mouth that feeds you and that includes all businesses
