I was 100% - but at 40mph on a straight road it dropped off ! - thankfully went left onto the verge, but was a total loss due to panel and floor and axle damage. Shudder to think how much worse it could have been. CAMC Insurance were fantastic, newer van back on the road shortly. These hitches need to be made safety proof in some way.

Hi Guys Just gave you a sub as we are looking for a 4 berth with a fixed bed. But we can’t get one yet as we are getting a 2025 car in March, so it depends on the tow bar and towing weight. If they made an electric car that ran on an alternator type of system basically that when you travel it changes up itself while traveling. Keep up the great videos Atb Paul

@shavingfox7914 thanks Paul, yes we have said this for a while with an alternator, someone did say why it can't be done, but I can't remember lol hopefully our videos make buying a little easier 👍

Hi, i have a leaking battery box, and it is letting rain/water in and it is running down and tracking along on either side of battery locker. The leak has been located and I have been told it needs resealing and to get a dehumidifier in to dry it out which i have done, as it is wet on wall just two fingers width under lounge bunk and dinette bunk. Do i need to ask them to remove the battery box and reseal from inside and outside as it has some sealant that has come away, allowing water in. I am new to this and dont want to get ripped off again 😢 i am happy to pay if it's what it needs, and i think I'd prefer it to be removed and resealed inside and out. Also, would you use dehumidifier before sealing or after? I have been told to do it before, but surely it is then still letting water in whilst waiting to be sealed which concerns me. Can I please have your thoughts. Many thanks
@thecaravanplace3 күн бұрын
@RiHiggs Hi, yes have it removed as an over seal will only be temporary, or to clean around a dirty seal, you can over seal for now until it can be removed and done properly. I would say overseal ASAP, and have the dehumidifier in to start drying then. It will help before being sealed but, it will dry, then get wet so wasted time and money. Hope this helps.👍

Yes unfortunately due to ill health and a planned retirement they have decided to close now. They have been for sale for around 2 years, but couldn't find a buyer. Another sad loss and a hard time for all the staff closing now.

A tin of electrical contact cleaner is a good thing to have to hand, as your fuse connections can get dirty and affect your 12v supply to various things. I've personally had this problem on a few occasions on the 12v system, it can be frustrating wasting money on new Fuses to find out you've got dirty contacts although fuses aren't expensive.

Once you have pumped out water from the system, wouldn't it be a good idea to connect an air pressure line and blow out air through lines, with sinks on and shower to push out stuck water.
@thecaravanplace13 күн бұрын
Yes if not using the van a very good idea, either blow through the shower pipe or use the floe system.

Why so many manual motorhomes? Surely most would prefer automatic these days?
@janetsmith737915 күн бұрын
Manual all the way for us. We did a test drive and hated driving automatic. Like my husbsnd says we use the gears driving in snow and other driving uses. You can't in a automatic car caravan etc etc. So glad there are more Manual these days.
@thecaravanplace13 күн бұрын
It is still a fairly even split on what people want, other than the A class models which do tend to prefer the auto.
@kazhilly9 күн бұрын
Manual All the way for me too. More reliable, cheaper to repair and easier to maintain, it uses around 5 to 10% less fuel, and the most important for me, Much more chance to get out of a pickle, like getting stuck in mud on a wet campsite. And what about a hill start if you have a dead battery… simply roll it down the hill, and it starts!! I would imagine a dead battery is quite a common problem in motor homes, forget to watch it and you’re buggered in an automatic in the middle of nowhere.
@rm555559 күн бұрын
@@kazhilly That was true 15+ years ago, but technology has come a long way. Modern automatics are now often more efficient than manuals, with better fuel economy thanks to precise gear management. For tricky situations, paddle shifters or manual modes let you take control and override the gearing when needed - no more being stuck in mud or struggling on a hill. As for battery concerns, many motorhomes today come equipped with solar panels to help maintain charge, and a compact jump-start pack can save the day if you're ever caught out. Automatics have evolved - it's a whole new game now!
