Wet & forget on the roof, brilliant stuff. Saves faffing around trying to keep the caravan roof clean 👍🏻

Hi mark we use salt in plastic tubs all over the caravan inside cupboards, inside storage under bed also on top of the mattress, wardrobes, bathroom, shower. We haven’t had a problem over winter still open all the cupboards. Take cushions off. We do check the caravan every few week through winter to change the salt . Hope this helps other people .

Has Mark never heard of grade 3? caravaners use their vans all year round this stuff is straight from the 1980s 😂

I found wire wool in any water pipe gaps under the van stopped mice getting in even around electric wire holes near tail lights and fridge gaps or air vents.

Another good video.....what I like to do when I store the caravan over winter, is to wind the jockey wheel right to the top, all the water, snow runs off the back so you have fewer black lines around the front, and the back is easier to clean......

Cheers Mark for the tips, going to close our van on Sunday 20th for the end of our very first season. I'll let you know next year if it all went well. Also thanks to to all the other comments from people. All appreciated, as I'm a newbie

Thanks so great tips. We have only had our caravan a year, so this will be 2nd year at storage yard. We can come and go whenever we like. So we can check it regularly. Will try and get the over winter product

Hi some great tips there mark.going back to the holding the bed up I use my aqua roll.it fits perfectly in the frame and doesn't strain anything. People may think it's a silly idea but it works for me.give it a try mate.

Great over winter tips. I always stack up the seating and every few weeks move around. The fixed bed mattress I stand on its side in the caravan near the kitchen area, and again move round occasionally. The battery I occasionally turn on the charger on the caravan to top it up, I’m lucky enough to store our caravan on the drive. Outside I do all of your tips and cover the caravan with a Specialised cover that keeps it clean. Finally I put out the moisture traps, I use the unibond Aero 360 and amazing how much they pull out of the air…but like you say always good to leave a few windows on the vent setting 😀😀

Thanks Mark. Never completely shut the van down in the winter, want to be able to go away at short notice. What I do is blow down the water system using the shower, until it's easy to blow through. After cleaning the toilet I put a couple of pints car screen wash in the tank (-10) flush a bit through and that stops it from freezing. Will not go into what I think of moister traps.

Great video as always, our van stays on a seasonal pitch over winter so like to know its drained down fully. I had a spare water pump so made my own drain down kit by cutting the pipe and adding a tyre valve to the end with a jubilee clip.

Thankyou Mark. Great tips for all existing and new caravan/motorhome owners. 2 X Tyre Saver Round Wheel Stop Leveller Ramp Prevent Flat Spots Caravan Motorhome Car Trailer Camper Van. keeps tyre shape. Available at various caravan parts shops/Amazon/eBay Etc. Sargent Solar PWM controller flashes green when it's supposedly charging (its a piece of junk). It never really fully charges the battery during the summer. but with alarm/tracker. caravan battery went flat over winter. I always have a full charge since changing that to a Victron MPPT charge controller, and can check charging history via the App. They reckon 25%-35% more power from the same solar panel using a MPPT controller than a PWM charge controller. A PWM controller wastes power generated by the solar panel, A MPPT controller maximises power from the solar panel Very easy to swap out in most caravans/motorhomes.

I'm hoping not to over winter my caravan but get out and about weather permitting. I am now draining down after every outing and then priming back up again. I put in dehydrated dessicant dehumidifiers too. I clean down after every outing too. Thank you for the tips for the toilet cassette.

Do people caravan through the winter and do campsites stay open?
@Pjhumpy2 күн бұрын
Water freezes and expands cracking your taps. I leave mine half way open, theory is that the water if there is any it won’t stick in either hot or cold. If caravan is standing I rotate my wheels every month 1/4 turn. To avoid flat spots.

Think about it. When the bed is down the gas pressure is at it greates because the stays are compressed.t . It has more chance to let gas escape when the bed is down. Nothing to do with supporting the weight of the bed.

An old trick that I heard many years ago is to leave a few big bowls of simple plain salt, that will absorb the moist left in the caravan over the winter. Any salt will do, even grit salt.

a 2ft tubular heater bud , burns 1 pence per hour , i use them in the garage and my son has one in his caravan , £21 for 3 moth , it has a thermostate clicks on and off , keeps the van frost free

Been to NEC and looked at a Weinsberg Care One. Can someone tell me a definitive answer as to whether you have to treat the underside of the road side floor or not? I thought it was necessary to prevent water egress and rot?

Can I ask why are smaller caravans over priced, I only want a small caravans as I'm new to towing, and they are priced ridiculously £15k plus, yet your caravans are priced fantastically and a lot more materials involved making them, yet smaller ones less material to make and priced higher, I've looked on few sites ? I don't understand it, I'm wanting a two berth, about the size of a freedom jetstream, as I want it to go on my driveway through the driveway gates? Any suggestions on smaller models please? Thanks you

For the solution to the mattress on the bed we just lift our bed up and stand the spare wheel on its side and rest the bed on the wheel with the frame
@thegrantclan3 күн бұрын
Make sure your spare wheel mechanism and wheel are okay if stored outside under the caravan 🤓

I used to build them and the difference in materials between a 14ft and an 8ft wide 22ft long van is just a few pounds. It really is manufacturers greed.

With reference to bed struts. Unclip one end then prop the bed up. Then reconnect them next season
