It feels like there is no real stability or continuity in this franchise. Every few years Mark is hiring new coaches and a new front office with nothing to show for it. I think he just wants be a hands off owner until everything inevitably falls apart then starts over. I understand that he was good at negotiating with the city of Las Vegas to build that stadium but he just can’t figure out how to build a successful team.

Tom Telesco didn’t impress me much during his tenure with the Chargers, and his time with the Raiders didn’t improve my opinion of him. Sure, he’s had some successes, but overall he’s been mediocre. You say he had a great draft last year for the Raiders, and while I agree the Raiders picked up some valuable pieces, Telesco failed in the most important part of that draft: getting a quarterback. Picking Brock Bowers after the last qb was taken off the board wasn’t a stroke of genius. It was the most obvious move because Bowers was the best player left. But that can’t obscure the fact that Bowers for the Raiders was a consolation prize. Sure, we couldn’t fix the broken engine, but check out the shiny new rims! Telesco in his career has either been too timid or too conservative to make any groundbreaking moves, and the Raiders needed someone to make major moves to address its needs early on. Telesco made it amply clear last year he wasn’t the guy. I’m inclined to think if Tom Brady was sitting in a meeting with Mark Davis listening to Telesco discuss plans for the new season, he’d be equally unimpressed and frustrated with the gm’s approach to the team’s situation and current direction and wouldn’t hesitate to make it known to Davis. I think Brady knows if the team is to overcome its lethargy, it needs better leadership in the front office and coaching staff, preferably with people unafraid to make the necessary moves to put the team back on a winning trajectory, rather than quibbling over whether they could afford to offer an highly sought after OC candidate a third year on his contract.

Tom Brady most definitely told Davis to fire AP and Telesco. AP needed a second year and a better QB to figure it out and Telesco drafted probably the greatest rookie TE of all time. Whatever Brady and Davis do they to show it wasn't a mistake to fire these two because the players never quit on AP and Telesco had one of the best drats in recent Raiders history.
