So many people (men actually) talking gear instead of wondering if they could improve their technique to perform better. Same in every area (sport, computers, photo etc...). It makes marketing and others dream sellers (like KZbinrs) happy !

The upgraded auto focus on the SL3-S is worth it. It is now close to Lumix S5IIx (or better?) and compared to the SL3 has an additional 779 AF metering areas (the SL3 has "only" 315). The SL3-S AF feels snappy, precise and reliable.

I don´t know. It is a great camera but i would have loved to see at least a few things more improved. I think a +5000$ video centric camera should at least have 4k 100fps. Should definitely be better than the S5IIx. It has similar specs, but the body and the usability are second to non.

I love a good kislux because it helps me decide if I want to buy the real thing or NOT." That part right there. That's IT. I feel like people stigmatize dupes but for me, I pause on large purchases that are trendy or when I feel the overconsumption mania setting in FOR ME. (It's something I struggle with LOL! I'm easily convinced to buy things I don't wear or use. They'll literally have the tags and I'll even forget I bought something and have 2 or 3 of them in my closet.) Love this video!

Yes. Too many people lug around a camera bag that is bulging with stuff. As a good friend of mine calls it, her Insecurity bag. Going with one camera, one lens forces you to think, compose, and get creative. I could not afford the M11, but I could squeeze the budget to get an excellent used Leica Q2M. I got a small 3.5L camera bag with the camera, a set of filters, and an extra battery. That is it! Enjoy the freedom and liberation this brings you.

Buying a camera for 7 or $8k that doesn’t auto focus well, has slow shutter speed of 2000 limit. No second card. Fixed vocal length. I could pick up a Fuji XT5, with either an 18 1.4 or a 33 1.4. I would still have enough money over to buy a full fleet of Fuji lenses! I know there’s a lot of fan boys on both sides, and I always wanted to try Leica, and most likely the Q3 43, but the cost is ridiculous! Too many people eyeing my Fuji camera as it is, having a Leica would just mean more security problems!

It is absolutely a very expensive Camera. But the AF is not bad. It‘s not like a sony but absolutely not bad at all. But you are right, you can get a whole bunch of Fuji lenses and a body for that money. However i think that is not the right comparison if you want to compare Cameras, you should take the Sony A7rV. the cost is worth it. you’re getting a full frame sensor with one of the sharpest lenses on the planet, built into a compact, timeless, handcrafted, tank of a camera. it’s not even comparable to fujifilm apsc cameras. the dynamic range, rendering, tonal gradation, depth of field, etc are leagues above anything fujifilm produces in their apsc lineup.

I have been considering a Q3... a 28, then the 43mm came along. I do most of my shooting whilst traveling, and much of that is on a motorcycle. For the last 10 years I have a Leica D-Lux 6 which has a 4.7-17.7mm (24-90mm equivalent) f/1.4-2.3 lens. It's nice, but I took it for granted. After a lot of wear and tear and about 30,000 shots, a professional shooter friend recommended a Canon G1X Mk3. Full size processor... a 24-72mm F2.8-5.6 lens and at first I was enamoured by the processor... a year later, I see clear differences in macro (particularly) and general clarity and depth in the photographs that no amount of editing can fix. Simply, I miss the Leica lens... You have confused me. I need to try one, but it seems to me the 28mm Q3 is the one I need... I will miss the zoom a little I guess, but the bigger sensor (than the D-lux 6) will probably compensate with cropping. The f/1.4 setting on the D-Lux 6 gave me brilliant low light capability. Again, that makes me lean towards the 28mm Q3. And lastly, the 28 is more compact. I was hoping (in my subconscious) that the 43 might be the answer I was looking for, but now perhaps not.
@Christian_Kurz
@Christian_Kurz Ай бұрын
The bigger sensor has definitely enough potential to crop. If it comes to low light, both the Q3 cameras will blow the D-Lux out of the water. Because of its newer and bigger sensor it handles noise much better. So no worries here.

Nice video, I agree with your points. My first light was COB almost the same as yours (different brand name for this part of Europe) but as you mentioned, when you want lit someone against the window in sunny day, it’s impossible to do it and key light is more fill light. Now I’m considering to take VL150 (but it’s almost 4 years after release), in theory it’s 2-3 times more powerful than SL60. But on the other hand there are in the same price range bicolor and RGB cob lights from Amaran and Smallrig but I guess even they are stronger in wattage, light output for daylight colour will be lower.

I agree with the vlogger about a SMALL palm-sized camera, but I do NOT agree that a camera costing $2000 is a good idea for a beginner :)!!! Consider instead the amazing SONY RX100 i, ii, or iii that cost around $500, have zoom lenses, a built in flash, cheap batteries, and a wonderful pop-up view finder, as well as a pop out back screen, and most important-beautiful images. Even better, buy the latest IPHONE or Samsung Galaxy cell and learn to use the high quality cameras in these phones. If you decide not to be a photographer you still have a great cell telephone to share pics with your friends. You can learn to shoot as a photographer with a good cell camera just like on a regular camera, but it's much easier-much more user friendly. The photos will not be as detailed/sharp/rich when blown up a bit, but so what? You are learning and deciding if you want to be a photographer :)! If you buy a cell, review the many you tube videos about how to shoot with the cell camera, or if you use a new iphone, go to the free classes at the Apple Store in your neighborhood. No matter what, never buy as a beginner, a detachable lens camera, you simply won't use it enough to warrant the cost, and they are too darn big to travel with or take to local events. Again, start with cells or palm sized cameras (under $600) then move up from there to APSC or full frame interchangeable lens cameras. Lastly, always consider used cameras sold by private parties who decide NOT to be photographers! You get great depreciation on such sites as Craigslist, Facebook marketplace, Offer-up. Amazon, EBAY are good as well, but you pay tax.
