My brother has the original copy of The Temptations version of Silent Night and he plays it every Christmas Day at my parents house for over thirty something years. It is a tradition and we live it .

All lead singers after Ali-Ollie Woodson are scabs as far as I'm concerned. After Richard quit the group and Melvin died, I lost interest in Otis' Temptations and started following the various review groups featuring former Tempts, especially Dennis.

Dennis Edwards sang lead on this song once on a TV special with The Supremes. For some reason, he was never comfortable singing lead on this song. Although he did take over the lead at David Ruffin's funeral. But after that TV special in '68, Dennis relinquished the lead to Paul and then Richard Street.

Nobody could sing like david ruffin
