Wonderful. A high point in my life was spending an evening with Lenny and the other composing fellows at Tanglewood in 1988. Since then he’s been my absolute hero. And a piece that’s so much better than it needed to be. Tchaikovsky was sheer class.

Sounds like an evil version of Harry Potter theme, which is fitting since he composed that too. Love his music. He writes such great melodies.

It was the most misunderstood film of the 1960's, but one of the best films to date! Golden Kubrick. His use of classical was criticized but it wouldn't have been the same without it. Thanks to visionaries such as Douglas Trumbull and L.B. Abbott who did the visuals, it looks as though it was made today as opposed to '68 when it was released.

John Williams said in an interview once that this was the ONLY film he actually requested to score. Most of time, he is the one being asked. He said he read the book in 1997 and the music immediately came to him and he held onto it, knowing that if it was ever made into a film, he would want to do the score.

I just read and heard that, in 1984, after a few years, he resigned from the Boston Pops briefly because of at least a minor revolt by his players. Hard to imagine they didn't know they had it so good.

Technically perfect - no surprise, they are members of the Boston Symphony - but it simply doesn’t have the flavor of the West, the way several other examples on YT have caught it. I taught myself a piano version of it; it’s more difficult than it seems because the strings and the brass are playing in two different rhythms. Whilst this programme has some amazing music included, It's crazy to think how many amazing themes John Williams has written since the filming of this; Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Harry Potter

I played saxophone in high school and this song changed my fucking life. The collaboration in musical orchestra is something I have longed for ever since I graduated. I have since deeply respected clarinet, oboe, and bassoon.

Love the smooth opening sounds that reflect various individual instrument sounds and then the blending richness of the. Combinations! Liked the dramatic buildup created and as it moved compellingly to a slowing down, and the ending sweet trilling reminding me of feathers being gently blown in the soft air at the end! Wonderful!
